Jin Sakai is back, but fans cannot simply switch to him during the main story of Ghost of Yōtei. The legendary hero from Ghost of Tsushima is a playable character in Most Wanted, a new single-player combat survival mode. To use Jin, players must first unlock him through the mode’s progression system.

Most Wanted is included with Ghost of Yōtei Complete Edition and the Complete Edition Upgrade. It is built around roguelike-style bounty runs. Players choose a bounty, fight enemy waves, defeat powerful opponents, and improve their character with perks.
Atsu is the starting hunter. Jin is one of four playable hunters, alongside Atsu, Oyuki, and Nagato. Each character has a different combat style and starting equipment.
How to Unlock Jin Sakai
Jin is not unlocked by completing a particular story mission or finding him in the open world. Instead, his unlock is tied to spending Mon, the currency used in Most Wanted.
The progression works like this:
- Start bounty runs as Atsu.
- Earn Mon by progressing through and completing runs.
- Spend Mon on techniques, weapon upgrades, charms, and other available improvements.
- Continue spending until you reach the required total.
- Open the Hunter selection menu and choose Jin once he becomes available.
Current guides report that Jin unlocks after 28,800 total Mon has been spent. The important detail is that this is a spending requirement, not a savings requirement. You do not need to hold 28,800 Mon at once. Purchases made during progression count toward the threshold.
Successful bounty runs make the process faster. Look for opportunities to collect additional Mon between fights, and prioritize useful upgrades.
Playing as Jin
Once unlocked, Jin can be selected from the Hunter menu before starting a Most Wanted bounty. He brings the combat identity that made him famous in Ghost of Tsushima, adapted to Most Wanted’s roguelike progression.
Jin uses his katana with all four original stances. The stances let him adapt to different enemy weaknesses instead of relying on one attack style.
His starting ranged options include Sticky Bombs and the hankyu short bow. These tools let Jin control groups, pressure enemies from a distance, or create openings before returning to sword combat.
Jin’s Special Abilities
Jin also has two abilities that should feel very familiar to Ghost of Tsushima players.
His Ultimate is Dance of Wrath. It targets multiple enemies and can disarm them, making it a strong option when a fight becomes crowded.
His Kill Streak is Ghost Stance. It terrifies nearby enemies and lets Jin eliminate a limited number of targets with single-hit attacks. Used well, it can quickly turn a dangerous encounter in your favor.
Build Jin Around His Strengths
Most Wanted lets players customize their character with perks during each run. These choices can improve weapons, survivability, parries, gear, summons, and other aspects of combat.
For Jin, a balanced build is a good starting point. Perks that improve katana damage, survivability, or defensive timing can help him remain effective when enemy waves become harder. Ranged upgrades can also be valuable because Sticky Bombs and the hankyu give him useful options outside direct sword fights.
Each run can produce a different build, so experimentation matters.
Can You Play Jin in the Main Story?
No. Jin is specifically a playable hunter in Most Wanted. He does not replace Atsu as the protagonist of the main Ghost of Yōtei campaign, and unlocking him does not let you freely roam the main story as Jin.
That distinction is important for players expecting a full Ghost of Tsushima-style campaign with Jin. Most Wanted is a separate combat-focused experience built around repeatable bounty runs, rather than a second campaign or character-swapping feature.
