Rentomojo is set to make its debut in the public markets as the rental and lifestyle platform opens its initial public offering (IPO) for subscription from September 9 to September 11. The company is looking to raise a total of around ₹1,255.6 crore through a combination of fresh shares and an offer for sale (OFS), putting the spotlight on both its growth story and the potentially massive gains awaiting some of its early backers.

At the top price band of ₹404 per share, Rentomojo is expected to command a valuation of approximately ₹4,200 crore. The IPO includes a fresh issue of ₹150 crore, while existing shareholders will sell shares worth around ₹1,105.6 crore through the OFS.

For Rentomojo, the public offering comes at a time when the company appears to have found a profitable formula in India’s rapidly expanding consumption and rental economy.

Early Investors Could See Huge Returns

While public investors will be watching Rentomojo’s growth prospects, some of its earliest backers have an even bigger reason to pay attention.

According to the IPO details, Accel India could potentially see around 8.63X returns on its investment, while Madison India may generate approximately 7.22X returns. ValueQuest and Edelweiss are also sitting on impressive gains, with their investments potentially delivering around 5.4X returns.

However, one investor’s potential payoff stands far above the rest.

Nitish Mittersain, founder of Nazara Technologies, could potentially see a staggering 152X return on his Rentomojo investment. His shares, originally valued at around ₹6 crore, are being offered through the OFS, making the investment one of the standout success stories surrounding the IPO.

Such returns highlight how early-stage investments in Indian startups can transform when a company successfully scales its business and eventually reaches the public markets.

Rentomojo’s Profitability Story

Rentomojo’s IPO also arrives after a strong financial performance in FY26.

The company’s revenue increased 45.5% year over year to ₹387 crore, demonstrating continued demand for its rental offerings. Even more striking was its bottom-line growth. Rentomojo’s profit after tax surged 142% to ₹104.2 crore during the financial year.

The combination of strong revenue growth and rapidly expanding profits could become one of the company’s biggest selling points among prospective investors.

Unlike many technology and startup IPOs that have reached the market while still reporting significant losses, Rentomojo’s profitability gives investors a different narrative to consider. The company is entering the public market with an established business model and positive earnings.

Why Rentomojo’s IPO Matters

Rentomojo operates in a market built around changing consumer preferences. Instead of purchasing expensive furniture, appliances, electronics and other lifestyle products outright, consumers can rent them and pay periodically.

This model can be particularly attractive to younger consumers, professionals who frequently relocate and households that prefer flexibility over long-term ownership.

The company’s growth could therefore benefit from India’s increasingly urban, mobile and convenience-driven consumer base.

The IPO will also give Rentomojo additional visibility and access to capital markets as it looks to expand its business. The ₹150 crore fresh issue is expected to provide funds that can support its future growth plans, while the OFS allows existing shareholders to partially cash out after years of backing the company.

A High-Stakes IPO Debut

Rentomojo’s IPO brings together three compelling elements: rapid revenue growth, rising profitability and extraordinary returns for some early investors.

With subscription scheduled for September 9-11 and the price band capped at ₹404 per share, investors will now assess whether the company’s public-market valuation adequately reflects its growth potential.

For Rentomojo’s founders and early backers, however, the IPO represents more than just a fundraising exercise. It marks the transformation of a startup built around the idea of renting everyday products into a potentially ₹4,200-crore publicly valued company.

And for investors such as Nitish Mittersain, the listing could turn an early bet into a 152X payday.
