Indian space technology startup Pixxel has raised $100 million in a Series C funding round, marking what the company described as the single-largest funding round for an Indian space technology company. The round was led by Singapore state investor Temasek and British space-tech venture firm Seraphim, giving Pixxel fresh capital as it looks to scale its satellite and Earth intelligence business.
The latest investment also brings Pixxel’s total funding to $195 million, underlining the growing investor interest in India’s private space sector. Existing backers Radical Ventures and growX Ventures participated in the round, while 360 ONE Asset and IMM Investment joined as new investors.
The funding is another major milestone for Pixxel, which has emerged as one of the most prominent Indian space startups since the government opened the country’s space sector to private companies.

From Hyperspectral Satellites to Earth Intelligence
Founded by Awais Ahmed, Pixxel initially built its business around hyperspectral satellites, a technology capable of capturing information that conventional satellite imagery cannot easily detect.
Unlike traditional imagery, hyperspectral imaging captures data across numerous wavelengths of light. This allows satellites to identify characteristics of materials and changes on Earth’s surface that may otherwise remain invisible.
The technology has applications across industries, including agriculture, environmental monitoring, mining, climate analysis and infrastructure.
Pixxel has since expanded beyond satellites to build a broader Earth intelligence ecosystem. Its portfolio now includes Aurora, an Earth intelligence software platform, alongside satellite systems designed for commercial and sovereign space missions.
The company describes this combination as part of its broader vision of building planetary infrastructure that connects sensors, software and space systems.
$100 Million to Expand Satellite Capabilities
The fresh capital will be used to expand Pixxel’s sensing capabilities and accelerate the development of its satellite network.
A key focus will be its Honeybee satellite constellation, which is designed to expand the amount of Earth observation data Pixxel can collect. The company also plans to strengthen its high-resolution optical imaging satellite capabilities.
But Pixxel is not betting solely on collecting more data.
The company also plans to invest in Aurora, its software platform that brings together data from different satellite sensors and turns it into what Pixxel describes as decision-ready insights.
This approach could become increasingly important as governments and businesses generate access to enormous amounts of satellite data but need better tools to interpret it and turn it into useful information.
India’s Private Space Race Gets Bigger
Pixxel’s latest funding round reflects the rapid transformation of India’s space industry.
For decades, India’s space capabilities were dominated by the government and the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). The opening of the sector to private players has created an entirely new generation of startups working across launch vehicles, satellites, Earth observation and space infrastructure.
Companies such as Pixxel are now attracting international investors as they attempt to build globally competitive space businesses from India.
The $100 million Series C round is particularly significant because it demonstrates that investors are willing to make increasingly large bets on Indian space technology. Temasek’s participation also gives Pixxel a major institutional backer as it enters its next phase of expansion.

With $195 million in total funding, Pixxel now has considerably more firepower to expand its satellite constellation, improve its imaging capabilities and develop Aurora.
The company’s strategy is also evolving from simply building satellites to creating an integrated Earth intelligence platform where data collection, satellite infrastructure and software work together.
As demand for real-time information about agriculture, climate, natural resources, infrastructure and national security continues to grow, Earth observation could become one of the most important segments of the commercial space economy.
Pixxel’s record-breaking funding round suggests investors are betting that an Indian startup can capture a meaningful share of that opportunity.
For India’s emerging private space sector, the message is equally significant: the country’s space startup boom is no longer just about launching rockets—it is increasingly about owning the data and intelligence generated from space.
