Faster Charging: What is the Big Deal?

You must have been in situations where the battery on your phone is at 5% and you’re just waiting for it to charge so you can continue to watch your favorite show or make your way through the traffic. That is why the new iPhone 16 models are here to change the situation for the better. These phones have been revealed to be capable of charging at a recording 45W over USB-C, as per the China Quality Certification Centre. That is far faster than the charging speeds seen on last year’s iPhone models that capped at 30W.

MagSafe as well as Qi2 Wireless Charging

Now, as it is understandable, today most of us have heard about wireless charging, and it is also with Apple. The new iPhone 16 series are; iPhone 16, iPhone 16 plus, iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max, it supports MagSafe wireless charging at 25W. All you need is the 30W adapter above, and no need for this cable anymore!

The iPhone 16 series also has support for Qi2 wireless charging which provides 15W of power. Therefore, if you are the type of a person that sometimes forgets to plug their phone (like me), you can conveniently power it wirelessly.

How Fast is “Fast”?

According to Apple, the quick charger can provide up to 50% battery charge in 30 minutes if used with a 20W or greater adapter.

Next, I would like to draw your attention to several important points. I last saw wired charging on last year’s iPhone, which supported 30w, but the newly called iPhone 16 is supporting 45w wired charging. If you do get your hands on the right charger then you will be able to achieve the charging acceleration more effectively. However, Apple has not specified how much faster it will charge the iPhone 16 in comparison to the previous models released last year.

Real-World Testing: So, Let’s See How This Stacks Up

Here’s the kicker: while the spec sheet looks interesting, we should check out how quickly iPhone 16 can charge with the help of different chargers in real-life conditions. Not all chargers are the same and using one will yield a better result than the other.

Therefore when planning to acquire any of the new iPhone 16 models it would be wise to purchase a reliable 45W charger in order to utilize this feature. To be honest, in this world, who wants to wait when your phone could be charging to the maximum?

Conclusion

Needless to say that in a world where we are surrounded by technology and tend to be active and busy most of the time, the charging time is a decisive factor. The new iPhone 16 series comes as a major advancement in the sense that Apple has given users what they want: the ability to spend more time enjoying the device and less time charging it. As a result, depending on your choice between the standards of wireless charging and cable ones, you will always use the necessary option.
