Anthropic is accelerating towards what could become one of the biggest technology IPOs of the year, with the artificial intelligence startup’s annual revenue run rate reportedly crossing $65 billion by the end of July.

The latest figure highlights the extraordinary pace at which the Claude maker is expanding, particularly as businesses and developers increasingly turn to its AI models and coding tools. The company is also preparing for a potential public listing later this year, putting its rapidly rising revenue under an even brighter spotlight.

Anthropic Revenue Growth Accelerates

According to a person familiar with the matter cited by Reuters, Anthropic’s annual revenue run rate exceeded $65 billion at the end of July.

The figure represents a dramatic increase from the $47 billion run rate reported in May. More strikingly, it has climbed from roughly $9 billion at the end of 2025.

An annual revenue run rate is not the same as actual annual revenue. Instead, it takes the company’s current sales pace and projects what revenue could look like over a full year if that pace continues.

Even with that distinction, the rapid increase demonstrates how quickly demand for Anthropic’s AI products is growing.

The company has shared the latest figure with investors as part of its ongoing financial updates, according to the person familiar with the matter. Bloomberg first reported the development.

Claude Coding Tools Fuel Enterprise Demand

Anthropic has emerged as one of the leading competitors in the generative AI market, challenging companies such as OpenAI and Google.

One of the biggest drivers of its growth has been Claude’s increasing popularity among software developers. Anthropic’s coding-focused AI tools have helped the company attract businesses that use AI for programming, software development and other technical workloads.

This has also strengthened Anthropic’s enterprise business, providing a potentially more durable source of revenue than consumer subscriptions alone.

As companies increasingly integrate AI into their daily operations, demand for models capable of handling coding, reasoning and complex business tasks has grown rapidly.

Anthropic Targets $200 Billion Revenue By 2028

Anthropic’s ambitions extend far beyond its current growth trajectory.

Reuters previously reported that the company is projecting 2028 revenue of roughly $190 billion to $200 billion. Such forecasts are expected to play an important role in determining the company’s valuation if it proceeds with an initial public offering.

The scale of the projection reflects the enormous expectations surrounding AI. Investors are increasingly betting that leading AI companies could generate hundreds of billions of dollars in revenue as businesses spend more on models, AI agents and computing infrastructure.

However, achieving those numbers will require Anthropic to maintain its rapid growth while navigating intense competition and enormous computing costs.

Valuation Has Soared

Anthropic’s valuation has also increased dramatically alongside its revenue growth.

The company was valued at approximately $965 billion in May after raising $65 billion in its Series H funding round.

That valuation was more than double the $380 billion valuation it received in February, highlighting the extraordinary investor enthusiasm surrounding the AI sector.

The jump also illustrates how quickly private-market valuations can move when investors believe a company is positioned to become a major player in the next phase of AI development.

Anthropic And OpenAI Race Towards IPOs

Anthropic’s growth comes as the broader AI industry moves closer to the public markets.

The company confidentially filed for an IPO earlier this year, setting the stage for a potential market debut. Rival OpenAI is also preparing for a possible IPO, creating an unusual race between two of the world’s most prominent AI companies.

For Anthropic, a public listing could provide access to substantial capital at a time when AI companies are spending heavily on computing infrastructure, talent and research.

The challenge will be convincing public-market investors that today’s extraordinary growth can continue.

A New Test For The AI Boom

Anthropic’s jump from a roughly $9 billion annual revenue run rate at the end of 2025 to more than $65 billion by July 2026 captures the extraordinary speed of the current AI boom.

Claude’s growing adoption among developers and enterprises has given Anthropic a strong position in the market, while its enormous valuation reflects investor confidence in its long-term potential.

But the company’s potential IPO will ultimately force investors to look beyond headline growth. Questions around profitability, computing costs, competition and whether its ambitious 2028 revenue targets can be achieved will become increasingly important.

For now, however, Anthropic’s numbers show why the company is emerging as one of the most closely watched AI businesses ahead of a potential public-market debut.
