07 December 2018, India:

ASUS is launching the successor of it’s popular mid-range smartphone ASUS Zenfone Max Pro M1. The successor will be called ASUS Zenfone Max Pro M2. The smartphone will be launched on December 11.

The Max Pro M2 will be an online exclusive smartphone like it’s predecessor. The Max Pro M2 will be Flipkart exclusive.

The company has already launched the smartphone in Russia. So, we have the specifications.

Let’s take a look at the ASUS Zenfone Max Pro M2.

Design

The Zenfone Max Pro M2 has a glossy back (but not a glass). Fingerprint sensor is present at the back of  the smartphone.

The power and volume rocker buttons are present on the right side of the smartphone. The bottom of the smartphone has primary mic, 3.5 mm Headphone Jack, speaker and Micro-USB port for charging and data transfer.

The top of the smartphone has a secondary noise cancellation mic.

Display

The Max Pro M2 has a 6.3 inch Full HD+ LCD Display. The display has a Notch on top. The resolution of the display is 2280×1080 pixels. The display has the contrast ratio of 1500:1.

The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 6.

Processor and Storage

The Max Pro M2 has Snapdragon 660 (which is a good upgrade over the existing Snapdragon 636 present in Max Pro M1).  The launched variant has 4 GB RAM. It has two storage variants – 64 GB and 128 GB.

However, the company is expected to launch a 6 GB RAM variant (alongside 4 GB RAM variant) in India.

The smartphone has a dedicated Micro-SD card slot.

Software

The Max Pro M2 will run on Android Oreo out of the box (we were expecting Pie, but …). The User Interface will be close to Stock Android (like it’s predecessor).

According to reports, the ASUS Zenfone 5Z will get Android Pie first, then other smartphone (from ASUS) will get Android Pie.

Camera

The Zenfone Max Pro M2 has dual rear camera combination. The primary rear camera is of 12 MP with f/1.8 aperture. The company has used Sony IMX486 Photo Matrix in the primary rear camera.

The smartphone has a 5 MP secondary rear camera for depth sensing.

The Max Pro M2 has a 13 MP front camera. The font camera has f/2.0 aperture.

LED flash is present on both front and rear sides to support cameras in low light photography. The smartphone is expected to have AI based scene recognition technology.

The rear camera can record video in up-to 4k format (3840×2160). The rear camera has 3-axis EIS (Electronic Image Stabilization). The smartphone can also take static photos while recording videos.

Battery

The smartphone has a 5000 mAh battery. It’s good that ASUS has not reduced the battery (it has the same battery capacity as it’s predecessor). The smartphone is expected to have support for fast charging. (However, according to reports, the charger in the box will be of 10W).

Other features

The Max Pro M2 has 5 magnetic speaker with NXP intelligent amplifier. The speaker is expected to be loud.

The smartphone has acceleration sensor, electronic compass, gyroscope, proximity sensor, light sensor.
