Audi Reveals the Next-Generation Q5 SUV, Replacing Its Bestseller

Today, however, the uncomfortable truth is that Germany’s trio of luxury automakers earned their reputations on sedans, particularly in North America, where the prevailing assumption is that hatchbacks belong on college campuses and station wagons belong in 1970s suburbanite communities. Audi’s success is mostly due to the Q5, but the ur-Quattro may have been the company’s main draw.

Upcoming Audi Q5: Flexible Architecture and Enhanced Performance with New Powertrain Options

The third model in its lineup, the Q5, is due out soon. Automakers are reacting appropriately as the world’s electrification timelines are turning out to be a little slower than initially anticipated. For hybrid vehicles and vehicles powered by internal combustion engines, Audi has engineered the premium platform combustion, a new flexible architecture that combines the newest software-defined vehicle technology with more fuel-saving powertrains and the most recent active and passive safety regulation.

When we speak about the design of Audi, it has a history of designing and manufacturing vehicles with intricate creased body panels. The Q5 new model has a more round appearance than the car enthusiasts thought of. However, this is limited to the treatment along the bottom portions of the doors. The Q5 has benefited from Audi’s increasing skill in simplifying its electric cars, though it won’t be evident to what extent this has improved fuel economy until the Q5 goes on sale in the US in the early part of next year.

We will then only have access to two models at that point. A 2.0 L four-cylinder TSFI engine with 268 horsepower (200 kW) powers the Q5, while a 3.0 L V6 engine with 362 horsepower (270 kW) powers the SQ5. Each has a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and all-wheel drive capability. The 48 V mild hybrid drivetrain and the less potent 2.0 L Q5 will not be available in this market.

New Audi Q5: Enhanced Interiors and Eco-Friendly Options with Upcoming Sportback Variant

The Q5’s taillight animations are likewise scheduled to be unavailable in the US. The three-dimensional OLED light clusters that come standard on our cars, such as the A5, A6 e-tron, and Q6 e-tron, will remain, but owners will only be able to select from eight distinct static themes.

On the inside, there are still resemblances to the A5. Although the interior volume is greater and the headroom is greater, the dash, console, and infotainment screen layouts are essentially the same. This includes the optional passenger infotainment screen, which has an active privacy mode that prevents the driver from seeing what’s being displayed while the car is in motion.

The standard SUV will be followed soon by a coupé-roofed Sportback variant of the new Q5. The new engine and body choices may be available at the same time since prototypes with plug-in hybrid powertrains have recently been seen testing in Germany. For a small increase in price and a smaller trunk area, anticipate somewhat better fuel efficiency and an extended range when using just electric vehicles.
