Battlefield 6 Gameplay Leaks Online Amid Closed Playtesting

EA’s upcoming Battlefield game has suffered an early leak, with gameplay footage from a closed playtest making its way online. The footage, which initially surfaced via a Twitch stream, has since been shared across platforms like Reddit, giving fans a first glimpse at the highly anticipated shooter.

The leak originated from a Twitch user, anto_merguezz, who reportedly streamed footage from EA’s Battlefield Labs playtest—an internal testing phase allowing a select group of players to experience early builds of the game. While the original stream has since disappeared, recorded clips are circulating widely, offering an unofficial first look at Battlefield’s latest iteration.

A Return to Modern Combat

One of the key takeaways from the leaked footage is confirmation of Battlefield 6’s modern setting, aligning with previous hints from Vince Zampella, head of the Battlefield franchise. Unlike Battlefield 2042’s near-futuristic approach or previous historical entries in the series, the new game seems to focus on contemporary warfare, complete with up-to-date weaponry, vehicles, and urban battlegrounds.

The short clips that have emerged highlight intense firefights and the return of destructible environments—a signature feature of the Battlefield series. Fans on social media have reacted positively to the leaks, with many praising the game’s fluid movement and gunplay mechanics. Given the lukewarm reception to Battlefield 2042 at launch, this early enthusiasm could indicate a stronger start for the next installment.

Single-Player Campaign Makes a Comeback

One of the most significant changes coming with Battlefield 6 is the return of a traditional single-player campaign. Unlike Battlefield 2042, which focused solely on multiplayer experiences, the new title will feature a linear, story-driven campaign. This move is a direct response to fan feedback, as many longtime players were disappointed by the absence of a solo experience in the previous game.

Although details about the campaign remain scarce, EA has hinted that it will deliver a more immersive and narrative-rich experience, potentially drawing inspiration from past titles like Battlefield 3 and Battlefield 4, which balanced cinematic storytelling with large-scale battles.

Expected Release and Official Reveal

As it stands, EA has scheduled Battlefield 6 for a release sometime in fiscal year 2026, meaning it will launch between April 2025 and March 2026. This timeline suggests that more official details will likely emerge soon, possibly in the coming months as EA builds toward a full-fledged reveal.

The publisher is expected to showcase the game in a more controlled setting, possibly during industry events or standalone digital presentations. However, with leaks already making waves online, EA may need to accelerate its marketing strategy to maintain control of the narrative.

What’s Next for Battlefield?

The Battlefield franchise has experienced its fair share of ups and downs, with Battlefield 2042’s launch being a particularly challenging moment for EA and developer DICE. However, with a renewed focus on fan-favorite features, a modern warfare setting, and the return of a single-player campaign, Battlefield 6 could mark a major turnaround for the series.

For now, players eager to see more will have to wait for EA’s official announcements. But if the leaks are anything to go by, Battlefield 6 is shaping up to be a game worth watching.
