KiranaPro, India’s leading ONDC-integrated, AI-powered quick commerce platform, has made a significant move in the fashion tech space by acquiring Likeo, an augmented reality (AR) startup specializing in virtual try-on technology. The all-stock deal, valued at $1 million, marks a strategic push to integrate immersive, AI-driven virtual trial rooms into BLACK, KiranaPro’s fashion-focused shopping app designed for Gen Z and digitally native consumers.

With this acquisition, BLACK becomes the first Indian app to offer AI-powered virtual try-ons across apparel, jewellery, and eyewear, enabling real-time, personalized digital product trials. The move is expected to transform how young shoppers discover and purchase fashion online, reducing hesitation and boosting confidence in their buying decisions.

Revolutionizing Online Shopping for Gen Z:

The integration of Likeo’s technology into BLACK is set to redefine the online shopping experience for India’s Gen Z. Virtual try-on features allow users to digitally “try on” products before purchasing, providing a mirrorless, highly interactive, and personalized shopping journey. This innovation is particularly targeted at fashion and accessory enthusiasts, who will gain early access to the feature as it rolls out in the coming weeks.

BLACK’s virtual trial room is powered by Likeo’s visual computing and AI-led platform, which blends visual discovery with deep personalization. The aim is to make shopping more playful, expressive, and real, while also addressing common pain points such as product returns and low customer confidence in online purchases. By enabling users to visualize how products will look on them, BLACK hopes to increase customer satisfaction and engagement, positioning itself as the go-to destination for next-gen fashion commerce.

Leadership, Vision, and the Road Ahead:

Saurav Kumar, the creator and CEO of Likeo, will become a member of KiranaPro’s leadership team as part of the acquisition, leading the company’s efforts in AI and visual computing. Driving innovation and expanding the virtual try-on experience for BLACK’s user base will be made possible in large part by Kumar’s experience.

KiranaPro’s founder and CEO, Deepak Ravindran, called the acquisition a daring move in the company’s plan to revolutionize online retail in India. “BLACK is a cultural movement, not just an app,” Ravindran stated. Likeo’s technology enables us to provide customers with a smooth, enjoyable, and highly personalized mirrorless buying experience. We’re ramping up our efforts to use AI and visual intelligence to transform how Gen Z finds and shops online now that Saurav is on board.

Saurav Kumar echoed this sentiment, stating, “Joining KiranaPro to build for BLACK is the perfect match of vision and velocity. We’ve always believed virtual try-on can remove hesitation and bring confidence to the online purchase journey. With BLACK, we finally have a canvas to scale this to millions—making shopping more playful, expressive, and real.”

Setting the Stage for the Future of Fashion Commerce:

BLACK’s integration of Likeo’s virtual trial room technology is expected to have a lasting impact on India’s e-commerce landscape. By offering a seamless, AI-powered try-on experience, BLACK is setting new standards for interactivity and personalization in online shopping. The feature is designed to reduce return rates, boost customer satisfaction, and create a more engaging and expressive shopping environment for Gen Z.

KiranaPro’s broader mission is to empower local kirana stores through technology, and this acquisition reinforces its commitment to innovation and customer-centric solutions. With a focus on 10-minute deliveries, a no-commission, ad-led revenue model, and now, immersive virtual try-ons, KiranaPro is positioning BLACK as a pioneer in the rapidly evolving ONDC ecosystem.

The virtual trial room will roll out in phases, starting with early access for fashion and accessories. As the technology matures, it is expected to expand to more categories, further cementing BLACK’s reputation as India’s most innovative and user-friendly fashion commerce platform.
