Neeyosi.com, a new civic-technology platform designed to make election candidate information accessible to every Indian voter, has recorded over 20,000 users within its first 24 hours of going live — a milestone that underscores the growing hunger among citizens for transparent, data-driven democracy.

NeeYosi is the initiative of  Kapil Bhaskar, a grade 12 student of Vidya Mandir Senior Secondary school in Chennai. Launched ahead of the Tamil Nadu 2026 Assembly Elections, Neeyosi allows voters to instantly look up any candidate contesting in their constituency and access detailed information drawn from publicly available Election Commission affidavits and information on Association of Democratic Reform — including educational qualifications, declared assets and liabilities, and criminal case history.

The platform, built to be simple enough for first-time smartphone users, strips away the complexity of navigating government portals and puts verified candidate data directly in the hands of voters.

“This started as a small project aiming to make information more accessible to the common man in the local language, and the response has been very encouraging.”, says Kapil.

Why Neeyosi?

With Tamil Nadu fielding over 4,000 candidates across 234 constituencies in the upcoming Assembly elections, the average voter has had little practical means of researching who is actually on their ballot. Neeyosi addresses this gap directly — its name, meaning “You Think” in Tamil, reflects the platform’s core belief: that an informed voter is democracy’s strongest safeguard.
