A Fresh Approach to Home Appliances
Founded in 2023 by Gazal Kalra and Shalabh Gupta, Nuuk is redefining the home appliances market with a fresh and customer-centric approach. The brand offers a range of high-quality products across four core categories: fans, vacuum cleaners, garment care, and juicers and blenders. Despite being a relatively new player, Nuuk is making its mark by focusing on design innovation and quality, with a strong emphasis on affordability for its target audience.
Speaking about the funding and future plans, cofounder Gazal Kalra, who previously co-founded logistics startup Rivigo, shared, “With this funding, we will be able to introduce newer products within the categories we already cater to. We are determined to create appliances that not only meet the needs of today’s consumers but also anticipate future trends.”
Product Innovation and Brand Building
The capital raised in this Series A round will be channeled into several key areas, most notably product development, brand building, and scaling up manufacturing. Nuuk’s strategy involves creating innovative home appliances that stand out in a crowded marketplace. The brand aims to add more products to its existing portfolio and refine its design processes to offer more personalized and user-friendly appliances.
One of the core aspects of Nuuk’s success lies in its internal design process. The company takes pride in developing appliance designs in-house, ensuring that every product meets its stringent quality standards before it is manufactured. This design-first approach helps the company maintain a high level of control over product quality and consumer satisfaction.
Scaling Local Manufacturing
Although 20% of Nuuk’s products are now made locally in India, the company has big intentions to raise this percentage. By the end of FY26, the firm is expected to have more than half of its products manufactured domestically, according to cofounder Shalabh Gupta. This action is in line with the government’s “Make in India” campaign and will enable Nuuk to increase its domestic manufacturing capacity while lowering its reliance on imports from China.
In addition to lowering prices, the move to local production promotes job development and strengthens the Indian economy. While upholding its dedication to superior quality standards, Nuuk hopes to become more flexible in meeting customer expectations as it expands production.
E-commerce Strategy: Tapping into Quick Commerce
E-commerce is essential to the success of every direct-to-consumer firm in the current digital era. By selling its goods on both its own website and well-known e-commerce marketplaces, Nuuk has achieved notable progress. Amazon is currently the brand’s biggest source of income among these.
But Nuuk isn’t content to stop there. The company is looking for new ways to boost sales as a result of the increased popularity of rapid commerce platforms like Blinkit. Nuuk intends to use these channels to reach a larger audience and provide quicker service because customers are growing more used to quick delivery times.
As Gupta explains, “Quick commerce is the next big thing, and we expect platforms like Blinkit to play a significant role in driving our sales moving forward.”

Competing with Industry Giants
Established companies like Philips, Bajaj, and Atomberg dominate the fiercely competitive Indian household appliance market. However, by providing premium goods at affordable costs, Nuuk is establishing a niche for itself. The company distinguishes itself from conventional appliance companies by its emphasis on innovation, local manufacture, and robust consumer connection.
Nuuk is putting itself in a position to successfully compete with these market leaders by utilizing technology and e-commerce. The startup is well on its way to becoming a household name in India’s home appliances industry, as seen by its expanding client base and rising brand recognition.
