Chennai, May 21 (PTI) : E-commerce major eBay today said it will continue to offer services across various platforms like PC and mobile app even as it is witnessing spurt in transactions through mobile devices.
“We will continue to offer in multiple platforms. We are seeing good transaction in mobile application. We are developing that. We have seen 43 per cent of traffic (transactions) was coming from mobile,” eBay India Head, Corporate Communications, Girish Huria told reporters here.
The company witnessed a spurt in the transactions made in the mobile commerce space in the last two years.
“In 2013, the percentage of mobile traffic (transactions) was in low double digits. We have seen 100 per cent growth in traffic in the last two years”, he said.
eBay, which is eyeing a larger market share in retail of online perfumes, announced the launch of an online perfume mall on its portal.
eBay India, Business Head-Retail Export (Cross border trade) Navin Mistry said out of the Rs 2,000 crore domestic perfume market, the share of online perfume market was Rs 148 crore.
“While the perfume industry is expected to reach Rs 3,000 crore market, the online perfume market is expected to double to reach Rs 345 crore in the next couple of years”, he said.
The company offers over 100 brands and 1,000 product ranges priced from Rs 399 to Rs 3,000 under the online perfume mall. A week-long promotional campaign was also launched today.
Citing the trends of buyers who prefer purchasing perfumes online, he said, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Delhi, Tamil Nadu and Kerala emerged as top five States.
“These five states contribute 60 per cent of purchases in eBay (in perfume)”, he said, adding 64 per cent of its buyers were men, while the rest women.
