We all know that Elon Musk has had some disagreements and issues with OpenAI and now he is at it again. This time, he’s not holding back in his latest defamation case against the artificial intelligence firm that he contributed to establishing. Musk’s problem with OpenAI is about lies, promises, and quite significant accusations.

Who Says Co-Founders Don’t Fight?

Elon Musk, the man behind electric cars, space exploration, and whatever new idea that you think you can dream of, is no stranger to drama. Recently, he has been critical about OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, and its CEOs Sam Altman and Greg Brockman. Musk says these guys were playing some kind of a secret chess.

What is all the Fuss All About?

In the most recent lawsuit filed in the Northern California federal court, Musk accuses both Altman and Brockman of “systematically and deliberately” deceiving him into establishing OpenAI. The plan was to establish a non-profit organization which was believed to be a better concept as compared to other organizations that are motivated by profit making. Sounds noble, right? Oh well Musk has said that it was all a part of a “long con” to get him hooked.

Promises Made, Promises Unfulfilled

Musk is not a newcomer to this legal battle. Back in June, he had another suit with these complaints but later dismissed the case without further explanation. While some people described it as a ‘hilariously bad’ lawsuit, Musk could not afford to have a hearty chuckle. But no matter what, he recovered, he recharged, he reloaded and now he’s back again in a much more dangerous way! This time, according to Musk’s lawyer Marc Toberoff, it is a ‘much more forceful lawsuit.’

It goes further than that though, this suit is not merely a claim of contract breach; it accuses OpenAI of violating federal racketeering statutes. Musk alleges that there was fraud against him and that OpenAI’s deal with Microsoft might obtain the tech giant from OpenAI’s AI once they get AGI.

Behind the Curtain of OpenAI Creation

Let’s rewind a bit. OpenAI was initially founded as a non-profit organization with the goal of advancing artificial intelligence for the betterment of humanity. It is like desiring to build an Artificial Superhero that will work in the defense of justice and truth! Musk, Altman and Brockman were counted as founding persons, willing and able to take on the AI world. However, at some point, the concept became rather unclear.

In Musk’s testimony, he said that the non-profit promise was the bait that got him into the venture. But now, he feels he has been surrounded by a corporate web of deceitfulness.

Microsoft and AGI

In the current litigation, Musk raises concerns regarding the contract between OpenAI and Microsoft. He pointed out that the contract threatens Microsoft’s rights to OpenAI’s technology once the AGI is developed. Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) is like something where AI becomes intelligent enough to perform and learn any task that a human being can perform.

Conclusion

Those who prefer legal knowledge rather than human interpretation of laws and court decisions can continue their education on the topic in the further information that is available here.

Will these changes be realized through Musk’s lawsuit? So, will OpenAI remain in the same line? One thing’s for sure: This is one legal battle that is like watching a sci fi film.
