According to Gasprice.io, following the general lowering of prices on the Ethereum network, L2 chains are now offering substantially cheaper fees than before, allowing users to make big Ether transactions for less than $0.1. ZKSync, as the name suggests, allows users to send ETH for less than $0.1, while the switch costs roughly $0.16. Other Layer 2 networks are also lowering the cost of Ethereum transactions, with the average cost of transferring ETH maintaining around $0.5.

Ethereum’s Layer-2 fees have significantly decreased
In terms of the main network, Ethereum presently permits transmitting funds for 12 Gwei, one of the lowest transaction fee prices since July 12. The decrease in the cost of Ethereum transactions is almost certainly related to the decrease in network activity.
Users of Ethereum previously had no choice but to pay up to $100 for a simple transaction on the blockchain. Due to network congestion, swaps and NFT mints required even greater gas payments from customers.
There has been a significant decline in network usage
The NFT and DeFi businesses, which have lost a lot of volume following the cryptocurrency market correction and a general reduction in the attractiveness of the industry, were the main source of increasing transaction fees on the Ethereum network.
According to statistics from decentralized tracking platforms such as DappRadar and DeFiLIama, NFT marketplace OpenSea has seen a nearly 50 percent decline in trading volume as a result of security issues and phishing assaults.
After a number of hacks and exploits surfaced in the first months of 2022, the majority of investors withdrew their funds from lending and borrowing contracts.
At the time of publication, it was still possible to conduct Ethereum transactions for less than 20 Gwei or to locate cheaper Layer 2 options.
