The 2025 Detroit Auto Show has undergone a transformation, evolving from an automotive media extravaganza into a community-focused celebration. This year, Ford took center stage, unveiling an array of innovative models and special editions that underscore its commitment to performance, heritage, and fan engagement.
Mustang GTD Spirit of America Special Edition
The spotlight was firmly on the Ford Mustang GTD Spirit of America Special Edition, a stunning tribute to the brand’s legacy. With a striking white exterior complemented by a Race Red and Lightning Blue stripe reminiscent of the Mustang tri-bar logo, this special edition exudes both nostalgia and modernity. Its carbon-fiber rear wing, front splitter, and rear diffuser emphasize performance-driven design.
Under the hood, the Mustang GTD packs a supercharged V8 delivering an impressive 815 horsepower. The interior features a refined palette with leather upholstery and Dinamica inserts, reinforcing its premium status. While pricing hasn’t been announced, it’s expected to surpass the $300,000 mark of the standard GTD.
Ford Mustang RTR
Ford also previewed the Mustang RTR, developed in collaboration with drifting champion Vaughn Gittin Jr. This edition pairs the Mustang’s turbocharged four-cylinder engine with high-performance components from the Mustang Dark Horse and RTR. With exterior enhancements like a blacked-out grille, pedestal spoiler, and Brembo brakes, the RTR promises to redefine perceptions of a four-cylinder Mustang.
Detroit Lions Edition F-150
Adding a touch of football fervor, Ford introduced the Detroit Lions Special Edition F-150 PowerBoost Hybrid. Celebrating the Lions’ standout season, the truck features a silver finish with blue accents and team logos. This limited-edition model blends fan enthusiasm with Ford’s hybrid technology, creating a collector’s item for die-hard supporters.
Bronco Stroppe Special Edition
The Bronco Stroppe Special Edition pays homage to the Baja Broncos of the 1960s and ’70s. Based on the Wildtrak model, it boasts a white, blue, and Code Orange exterior, a black steel front bumper, and bead-lock capable wheels. Its rugged design and heritage-inspired styling celebrate Ford’s off-road racing legacy.
Expanding the Lineup
Ford also revealed exciting new trims across its lineup. The Ford Maverick Lobo offers a sporty twist with a lower stance, unique aerodynamic wheels, and features borrowed from the European Focus ST. Meanwhile, the Expedition Tremor delivers off-road prowess with 33-inch all-terrain tires, underbody protection, and a turbocharged V6 engine producing 440 horsepower.
The compact Bronco Sport gains the Sasquatch package for 2025, adding an upgraded locking rear differential and all-terrain tires. These additions enhance the Bronco Sport’s rugged capabilities, ensuring it stays competitive in the growing off-road segment.
