Pretty tight about your Duolingo streak? Make sure you don’t miss any lessons by simply adding a widget. Let us walk you through the process with each step, and we’ll see how that can help us. So, let’s dig right in!
What is a Duolingo widget?
The Duolingo widget is a small icon, or rather an interactive tool that you can add to your phone’s home or lock screen. This now acts as a visual motivator as well as a tracker for your language practice and lessons. It constantly displays key learning stats, your current streak, and often features Duo the owl, who chooses to change its expressions to remind you to complete your daily lesson before your streak is in danger. While this doesn’t impact your progress in the app itself, it does keep itself at the top of your visible icons to keep you updated. Whether you choose to do the lesson at any time doesn’t affect it. It stays there to remind you.
Steps to add a Duolingo Widget to the home/lock screen
Adding a Duolingo widget to the screen is a good idea, especially if you want constant motivation and reminders that you need to do your lessons. So, let us discuss the steps for the same.
Home Screen Widget
iPhone
- If you have an iPhone and want to do it, just begin by long-pressing on an empty area of your home screen until the apps start to shake or move.
- Now tap on the plus sign or icon in the upper-left corner of the screen. As it opens, scroll down, find, and tap on Duolingo.
- Now choose your preferred widget size, which can be tiny or large, and then tap “Add Widget.”
- Tap on “Done” to save your home screen settings, and you’ll get a widget there.
Android
- If you use an Android, then you can long-press on an empty space on your home screen, pretty much like we did on an iPhone.
- Tap on “Widgets” from the pop-up menu.
- Now move through the list until you find the name and tap on Duolingo.
- Click and hold the desired widget style, then drag and drop it onto your home screen to finally get it saved there!
Lock Screen Widget – iOS Only.
This feature is only available on an iPhone, so keep that in mind if you’re trying it with an Android device.
- For that, just wake your iPhone screen but do not unlock it. Now long-press on the lock screen, and click on “Customize,” then select “Lock Screen.”
- Tap the area under the time where widgets are usually placed.
- Finally, scroll down, select Duolingo, and then tap the small widget you want to display your streak.
- Now exit the widget gallery and save your chosen settings. Your work here is done. You’ll get your Duolingo widget on the lock screen to remind you every day.
So, irrespective of what kind of device you use for using Duolingo and more, you can totally add a widget to your screen.
