Making use of AirPlay on an Apple TV or smart TV that supports it

Apple’s wireless streaming technology, known as AirPlay, is the easiest way to project content from your iPhone to a television. You don’t have require an Apple TV because many contemporary smart TVs have built-in AirPlay compatibility. Steps:

  1. Ensure compatibility: Make sure your TV supports AirPlay. This includes Apple TV devices or TVs from brands like Samsung, LG, Sony, and Vizio that come with AirPlay 2 built-in.
  2. Connect to the same Wi-Fi: Both your iPhone and the TV must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
  3. Open Control Center: On iPhones with Face ID, swipe down from the top-right corner of the screen. On models with a Home button, swipe up from the bottom.
  4. Select “Screen Mirroring”: Tap the “Screen Mirroring” option in Control Center.
  5. Choose your TV: A list of available devices will appear. Select your Apple TV or AirPlay-compatible TV.
  6. Enter the AirPlay code: If prompted, enter the code displayed on your TV screen into your iPhone.
  7. Start casting: Your iPhone’s screen will now appear on the TV. You can start playing videos, apps, or browsing the web.

How to Use an HDMI Adapter

You can use an HDMI adaptor to establish a wired connection if your TV isn’t compatible with AirPlay. With Apple’s Lightning to HDMI converter, you can mirror the screen of your iPhone straight onto your television. Steps:

  1. Get a Lightning to HDMI converter: To prevent incompatibilities, make sure the adapter has an Apple certification.
  2. Link your iPhone to the adapter: Insert the Lightning end into the charging port on your iPhone.
  3. Attach the HDMI cable: Insert one end of the HDMI cable into the TV’s HDMI port and the other end into the adapter.
  4. Change the input on your TV: Adjust the input source on your TV to the appropriate HDMI channel.
  5. Start viewing: Your iPhone screen will now be mirrored on your TV. You can play videos, stream apps, or browse content.

Employing Chromecast

Another well-liked method for casting media from your iPhone to the TV is Google Chromecast, if you don’t own an Apple TV or an AirPlay-capable TV. Steps:

  1. Configure Chromecast: Attach the power wire and plug the Chromecast into the HDMI port on your TV. Using the Google Home app on your iPhone, adhere to the setup steps.
  2. Join the same wireless network: Verify that the Wi-Fi network that your Chromecast and iPhone are linked to is the same.
  3. Launch an app that works with Cast: A lot of apps, including Spotify, Netflix, and YouTube, are cast-compatible.
  4. Press the icon for casting: Look for and tap the Cast icon (a rectangle with Wi-Fi waves) in the app when a video or song is playing.
  5. Choose your Chromecast device: Select the Chromecast device you want from the list.
  6. Start casting: The content will start playing on your TV. You can control playback directly from your iPhone.

Third-Party App Utilisation (On Non-AirPlay TVs)

You can use third-party apps that enable casting from an iPhone if your smart TV does not support AirPlay or Chromecast. You may wirelessly project your screen onto many smart TVs by using apps such as LetsView, ApowerMirror, and TV Assist. Steps:

  1. Get the casting app on your phone: Look via the program Store for a third-party casting program such as LetsView or ApowerMirror.
  2. Connect both the Devices to the same Wi- Fi nectwork: For the app to function, both devices must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
  3. Launch the application: To connect your iPhone to the TV, follow the directions on the app.
  4. Project your screen: After connecting, you can use the app to cast content to your TV.

Using the Native Casting feature on a Smart TV

Many contemporary smart TVs have built-in casting capabilities that don’t require additional hardware, such Samsung Smart View and LG Screen Share. Steps:

  1. Toggle the casting option on your TV: Look for options for casting or mirroring (such as LG’s Screen Share or Samsung’s Smart View) in the TV’s settings.
  2. Join the same wireless network: Make sure the TV and your iPhone are linked to the same network.
  3. Utilise the TV app: On your iPhone, download the relevant app (like LG ThinQ or Samsung SmartThings).
  4. Casting now: Cast content from your iPhone to the TV by using the app.

Troubleshooting Hints

Verify your TV and iPhone are connected to the same Wi-Fi network by checking your Wi-Fi connection.

  1. Device restarts: Try restarting the TV and iPhone if casting isn’t functioning.
  2. Software update: Make sure the most recent software updates are installed on both your TV and iPhone.
  3. Verify any restrictions: Casting may not be supported by certain apps because of content limitations.

In summary

In 2024, there are a lot of alternatives available for casting your iPhone to a TV, including third-party apps and adapters, AirPlay, and Chromecast. The approach you select will rely on your preferences and the devices you own. You can view entertainment on a larger screen by simply mirroring the screen of your iPhone using these steps.
