An amazing little gadget called Apple’s AirTag is made to assist you in keeping track of your valuables, including bags, pets, and keys. Even though the AirTag is designed to endure a long time, its battery will ultimately run out. Even in 2024, changing a battery is still a quick and easy process that takes a few minutes.

In order to keep your gadget powered on and operational, follow these instructions to replace the AirTag battery.

KEYPOINTS:
  • The stainless-steel battery cover of the AirTag can be stopped by applying pressure and rotating it anticlockwise.
  • Take off the battery and cover.
  • Place a brand-new, positive-side-up CR2032 lithium 3V coin battery in it. These batteries are available at most pharmacies and electronics retailers.
  • Make sure the three tabs on the cover line up with the three slots on the AirTag before replacing the cover.
  • To stop it, turn the cover in a clockwise direction.
  • When the battery is attached, the AirTag will sound an alert.

What You Require

The following supplies are needed to change the battery in your AirTag before you begin:

  1. A brand-new CR2032 battery: Standard CR2032 coin cell batteries, which are generally accessible at most general or electrical stores, are what AirTags use. Ensure the battery you choose doesn’t have a bitter coating because this coating could interfere with the AirTag’s battery connections.
  2. Your AirTag: Of course, you’ll need the AirTag that requires a new battery.

How to Change the AirTag Battery

  1. Use the Find My App to check the battery life:
  • Get your iPhone’s Find My app open.
  • At the bottom of the screen, click the Items tab.
  • From the list of connected things, select your AirTag.
  • A low battery notice will appear under the name of your AirTag if the battery is low.
  1. Slide the AirTag open:
  • With the white plastic side facing down, hold the AirTag.
  • Firmly press down on the metal side of the stainless steel lid.
  • Rotate the lid anticlockwise (to the left) while applying pressure until it opens.
  • The metal cover is simply removable after it has been flipped to reveal the battery.
  1. Take Out the Old Battery:
  • Just remove the AirTag’s outdated CR2032 battery. Take note of how the positive (+) side of the battery is pointing up.
  1. Put the New Battery in:
  • Putting the positive (+) side of the new CR2032 battery into the AirTag should be done. The AirTag should chime to let you know that the battery is functioning when it is properly installed.
  • Make sure the battery is seated correctly by removing and reinserting it if the chime isn’t audible.
  1. Shut down the AirTag:
  • Place the stainless-steel cover back over the AirTag in alignment.
  • Turn the lid clockwise, or to the right, while applying pressure until it locks into place.
  1. Verify the battery’s functionality:
  • Reopen the Find My app after the AirTag has been assembled and the battery has been changed.
  • Choose your AirTag and verify that it now displays a new battery and that the low battery warning has disappeared.

Tips for Maintaining and Extending Batteries

  1. Life of Battery: In an AirTag, a CR2032 battery usually lasts approximately a year, depending on usage. You won’t need to physically check the battery level because the Find My app will notify you when it is low.
  2. Avert Batteries with Bitter Coatings: A unpleasant coating is applied to some CR2032 batteries to deter kids from ingesting them. It is recommended to use uncoated versions of these as they can occasionally hinder the battery in an AirTag from connecting properly.
  3. Proper Disposal: Be sure to dispose of the old battery properly. Many stores and recycling centers accept used batteries.

In summary

The process of changing the battery in your AirTag is simple and quick. All you need is a fresh CR2032 battery and a few minutes of your time to make sure your AirTag keeps functioning flawlessly. In 2024, keeping track of your belongings will be easier with routine battery checkups and replacements.
