Having a public profile on Snapchat that you want to delete? Follow the guide to know how you can delete it in a few steps while still being able to use the platform. So, let’s get started.
Can we delete a public profile on Snapchat?
Well, yes, you can. However, it feels more like “turning it off” than clicking on a permanent delete button. Your Public Profile is more like a secondary layer on top of your personal account. You can take away that public persona, including the bio, the subscriber count, and also the public stories, without actually losing your private Snaps or your friends list. This is a good way to take a break from the public eye while keeping your memories intact. Once you remove it, you essentially go back to being a “ghost” to the general public, and they can’t access your precious content anymore. While you are no longer a creator on Snapchat, you still remain a user, and you can use it just the way you used to.
Steps to delete a public Snapchat profile
If you want to delete a public profile on Snapchat, these are the steps that you can follow.
Open your Profile
Tap on your Bitmoji or story icon in the top-left corner to get to your main profile screen. Your profile is where you will get access to the rest.
Find the Public Profile
Scroll down on the screen until you see the section that mentions Public Profiles, and then tap on your profile name.
Access Settings
Look for the three dots (…) or the settings icon in the top-right corner of the Public Profile management page.
Go to the “Delete” Option
Once you are inside the settings of your profile, you can scroll all the way to the bottom of the settings list. You’ll see a red button that says Clear Public Profile. This is what we’ve been looking for.
Confirm
Once you do so, a pop-up will appear on your screen, telling you that this action can’t be undone and will wipe your public-facing content. If you are certain that that’s what you want, just tap on Clear or Delete to confirm.
Do this, and you’re good. This makes you jump back to your private account, which you can use with friends and family. This is a closed space with none of your public content pieces, so make sure you think this through before making a decision.
