If you want to unlock more weapons, vehicle upgrades, and special equipment in Grand Theft Auto Online, Bunker Research is an important part of the Gunrunning business. Unlike normal supply missions, Bunker Research missions let you directly increase your research progress by completing a special job for Agent 14.

You need a Bunker, then you can request the research mission from Agent 14 using your phone.
What You Need Before Starting
First, make sure you own a Bunker in Grand Theft Auto Online. You do not need to be registered as a CEO or Motorcycle Club President to request the special Bunker Research mission.
Normally, research progresses when your technicians use Bunker supplies. You can manage this from the Disruption Logistics laptop inside your Bunker. The special mission gives you an extra burst of research progress by completing a job.
How To Start A Bunker Research Mission
Starting the mission is straightforward. Follow these steps:
- Open your in-game phone in Grand Theft Auto Online.
- Open your Contacts list.
- Find Agent 14 and call him.
- Select the option to request Bunker Research.
- Wait for the mission to begin and follow the location shown on your map.
Agent 14 will send you to a location where an armored target is involved in a confrontation with law enforcement. Your objective is to recover research data from the target.
How To Complete The Mission
After the mission starts, drive to the marked location. When you arrive, you will usually find law enforcement fighting an armored target. Be careful because the area can become chaotic very quickly.
The exact destination can vary between missions, so always follow the current objective marker instead of assuming the target will appear in the same place every time. The mission is designed as a quick research activity rather than a full supply run. Keep your vehicle nearby before entering the firefight carefully.
Your main objectives are:
- Search the marked area.
- Take out the armored target.
- Collect the research data.
- Escape the police.
- Return the research data to your Bunker.
The armored enemy can absorb a lot of damage, so use cover and avoid standing in the open. Once the target is defeated, collect the research data.
Picking up the data will normally give you a wanted level. At this point, lose the police before returning to your Bunker. Using side roads or tunnels can make the escape easier.
Deliver The Research Data
Once you have lost the police, head back to your Bunker. Enter the Bunker and deliver the research data at the marked location. Completing the delivery finishes the mission and awards additional research progress.
A completed Bunker Research mission gives $10,000, between 1,000 and 2,000 RP, and 16.66% research progress. This gives you a useful boost without relying entirely on normal research time.
After completing one, there is a 20-minute cooldown before you can request another Bunker Research mission.
What Does Bunker Research Unlock?
Bunker research contains a large pool of projects that can unlock modifications and equipment for weapons and weaponized vehicles. These include Mk II weapon upgrades, special ammunition, vehicle weapons, and other customization options.
Research projects are selected randomly, so you cannot normally choose exactly which unlock comes next. If you want to speed up a specific project, you can also use the Fast-track option through the Bunker computer, although this costs money.
