What is the iOS 18 Beta version?

iOS beta versions are pre-release iterations meant for testing. They provide customers with an early look at planned improvements and let developers test that their apps are compatible with the latest operating system. Beta releases, however, are not final versions and hence may have flaws and be unstable.

KEYPOINT: Install the iOS 18 public beta by going to Settings > General > Software Update > Beta Updates and selecting it. Install the iOS 18 public beta by going to Settings > General > Software Update in the end.

Sign up for the Beta Software Program at Apple

Apple allows anyone to sign up for their public beta program. Here’s how to do it:

  • Go to the website of the Apple Beta Software Program.
  • If you aren’t a member yet, click the “Sign Up” button. If you are logged in, select “Sign In.”
  • Log in using your Apple ID.
  • Agree to the program’s terms and conditions.

Make a Device Backup

It’s essential to backup your device before installing any beta software. This guarantees that in the event that something goes wrong during beta testing, you can recover your data. Here’s how to create an iPhone backup:

Making Use of iCloud:

  • Navigate to Settings > iCloud > iCloud Backup under [your name].
  • If iCloud Backup isn’t turned on already, turn it on.
  • Press “Back Up Now.”

Using the Finder or iTunes:

  • Link your computer and iPhone together.
  • Launch the Finder (on macOS Catalina and later) or iTunes (on Windows or macOS Mojave and before).
  • Choose your iPhone.
  • Select “Back Up Now.”

Install the Beta Profile after downloading it

You must download and install the beta profile on your device in order to install the iOS 18 beta:

  • Visit the Apple Beta Software Program page on your iPhone.
  • Using your Apple ID, log in.
  • Select “Enrol your iOS device” after swiping down to the “Get Started” section.
  • Select “Download Profile.”
  • You’ll see a pop-up requesting authorisation to download the profile. Press “Allow.”
  • Select the iOS 18 Beta Software Profile by going to Settings > General > Profile and tapping on it.
  • To install the profile, tap “Install” in the upper right corner, provide your passcode, and adhere to the installation instructions.
  • Give your iPhone a restart.

Upgrade to iOS 18 Beta

You can update to iOS 18 beta after installing the beta profile and restarting your device:

  • Navigate to Software Update under Settings > General.
  • The iOS 18 beta update ought to be visible to you. Click “Download and Install.”
  • After agreeing to the terms and conditions, enter your passcode.
  • On your device, the update will download and install. It might take some time to finish this process, and after it’s done, your device will restart.

Things to Remember

  1. Stability: Beta software may exhibit instability as it is not yet finished. There could be glitches, crashes, and other problems. If at all possible, install beta software on a backup device.
  2. Beta Testers: Comments are welcome from beta testers, according to Apple. Use the Feedback app that is included with the beta version if you find any flaws or have any recommendations.
  3. Upgrades: Apple will roll out iOS 18 upgrades during the beta period. For optimal performance, keep your device updated to the most recent beta version.

In summary

You may check out new features and enhancements before the official release by using the iOS 18 beta. You can safely download and install the iOS 18 beta on your device by following these procedures. Remember to back up your data, be prepared for potential issues, and enjoy the exciting new capabilities of iOS 18.
