Kyogre, the legendary Water-type Pokémon, is already a powerhouse in Pokemon GO, but with its signature move, Origin Pulse, it becomes an unstoppable force. If you’re looking to add this beast to your collection, you’ve come to the right place. This guide will walk you through everything you need to know about getting Origin Pulse Kyogre, from raid strategies to maximizing its potential in battles.

Origin Pulse isn’t just any Water-type move—it’s Kyogre’s exclusive attack, meaning no other Pokémon can learn it. This move hits hard, dealing massive damage in both raids and PvP battles. When paired with Kyogre’s already impressive stats—270 Attack, 228 Defense, and 205 Stamina—it becomes one of the top Water-type attackers in the game. If you’re serious about dominating raids or climbing the ranks in the Master League, Origin Pulse Kyogre is a must-have.

How to Get Origin Pulse Kyogre

Unlike regular Kyogre, which can be caught in standard raids, Origin Pulse Kyogre only appears during special events. Here’s how you can get your hands on one:

1. Participate in Five-Star Raids

Origin Pulse Kyogre is typically available in Five-Star Raid Battles during limited-time events. These raids are tough, so you’ll need a strong team and some fellow trainers to help take it down. Keep an eye on Pokemon GO’s official announcements—Niantic usually teases these events ahead of time on social media or in-game news.

2. Use Elite Charged TMs

If you already have a Kyogre but missed the event where Origin Pulse was available, don’t worry. You can still teach it the move using an Elite Charged TM. These rare items let you select legacy or exclusive moves, making them the easiest way to get Origin Pulse without waiting for another raid event.

3. Trade with Other Players

If you’re lucky enough to know someone who has an extra Origin Pulse Kyogre, trading is another option. Just keep in mind that trading requires Stardust, and the IVs will reroll, so you might not get the strongest version. Still, it’s a solid backup plan if raids aren’t an option.

Best Counters for Kyogre Raids

Since Kyogre is a pure Water-type, it’s weak to Electric and Grass moves. Here are some of the best Pokémon to bring into battle:

  • Zekrom – With its powerful Electric-type moves, Zekrom can shred Kyogre’s health bar.
  • Roserade – A strong Grass-type with high DPS, perfect for exploiting Kyogre’s weakness.
  • Mega Sceptile – If you have one, this Grass-type Mega Evolution will deal massive damage while boosting your team’s attacks.
  • Raikou – Another great Electric-type option, especially if you have one with Wild Charge.

Aim for at least 5-6 trainers in the raid, and make sure everyone is using optimal counters. If you’re short on players, weather boosts (like Rain for Kyogre) can make the fight harder, so plan accordingly.

Catching Kyogre After the Raid

Defeating Kyogre is only half the battle—catching it is the real challenge. Here’s how to maximize your chances:

  • Use Golden Razz Berries – These significantly increase your catch rate.
  • Aim for Excellent Throws – Practice your curveballs to land consistent Excellent throws for the best odds.
  • Wait for Attack Animations – Kyogre moves around a lot, so time your throws right after it attacks to avoid wasting balls.

Is Origin Pulse Kyogre Worth It?

Absolutely. Whether you’re into raiding or PvP, Origin Pulse Kyogre is a top-tier choice.

For Raids (PvE)

Kyogre is already one of the best Water-type attackers, and Origin Pulse pushes it even further. It outperforms most other Water-types, including non-legacy Kyogre, making it invaluable for taking down Fire, Rock, and Ground-type raid bosses.

For PvP (Master League)

In the Master League, where there’s no CP cap, Kyogre shines. Origin Pulse hits like a truck, and when paired with Thunder for coverage, it can take down threats like Gyarados, Metagross, and even some Dragon-types. Just be wary of Grass and Electric opponents—they’ll give Kyogre trouble.
