The Hypercube is one of the most powerful legendary artifacts in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl. It is especially useful for players who regularly deal with fire anomalies and heavy bleeding. When equipped, it provides maximum Thermal Protection, maximum Bleeding Resistance, and maximum Radiation. Those three effects make it an excellent choice for dangerous areas where environmental damage can quickly drain your health.

There is a catch, though. The Hypercube itself produces maximum radiation. If you equip it without a way to control that radiation, you will slowly build up radiation and take damage. Because of this drawback, finding the artifact is only part of the job. You also need the right equipment to use it safely.
Where to Find the Hypercube
The Hypercube does not have one permanent location where it always appears. Instead, it can spawn inside Thermal Anomalies across the Zone. This means the exact artifact you receive is influenced by random generation.
Some useful places to search include:
- Magnetic Cave in the Lesser Zone
- Detention Center in the Garbage region
- Thermal anomaly fields around the Cement Factory
- The Boiler in Zaton
- The Circus in Zaton
- Thermal anomaly fields in the Burnt Forest
- Burning Fire Depot around the Cooling Towers
The Magnetic Cave is useful because it can be reached relatively early. However, if you want a convenient location for repeated farming, the thermal anomaly near the Cement Factory is another strong option.
How to Get the Hypercube
First, travel to a Thermal Anomaly. Make sure you have an artifact detector equipped before entering the dangerous area. You should also bring healing items and suitable protection because thermal anomalies can cause serious damage.
Once you reach the anomaly, stop roughly 150 to 200 meters away and create a quicksave. The important part is saving before the artifact has been generated for your current attempt.
Move toward the anomaly and use your detector to locate the artifact. Pick it up and check its name. If the result is not the Hypercube, reload your quicksave and try again.
Repeat this process until the Hypercube appears. Reloading the save can produce a different artifact, making this method much faster than repeatedly traveling between locations.
A Special Hypercube Opportunity
There is also a more direct way to obtain the Hypercube during exploration. The Detention Center contains a basement with dangerous thermal anomalies, and the area can contain the artifact.
During the mission “Answers Come At A Price,” you can gain access to the Detention Center. Inside, search for a key in the office area, then use it to open the basement gate. Once downstairs, carefully navigate the rooms and use bolts to identify dangerous anomaly zones.
The Hypercube can be found in the basement near red metal pipes and other objects. Keep your detector ready, because the artifact can be difficult to spot among the hazards. A hostile fire-based Poltergeist may also be present, so deal with the threat before spending too much time searching.
How to Handle the Radiation
The Hypercube’s maximum radiation is its biggest weakness. You have several ways to reduce the problem.
- Equip other artifacts that provide enough radiation protection.
- Use a suit with a lead-lined artifact container.
- Keep the Hypercube stored safely when you do not need its benefits during long exploration trips.
A lead container is particularly useful because it prevents the radioactive artifact from affecting you while it is stored.
Is the Hypercube Worth Getting?
Absolutely. The Hypercube is one of the best defensive artifacts in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl, especially for players who frequently explore thermal anomaly fields. Maximum thermal protection makes dangerous fire zones easier to handle, while maximum bleeding resistance can save you during difficult fights.
