Steps to merge duplicate photos on an iPhone
If you want to clear up some storage on your iPhone and want to straighten up your gallery, these are the steps for you –
- Open Photos– Tap the Photos app icon on your home screen to open the gallery.
- Go to Albums– Tap “Albums” located at the bottom of the screen.
- Find the Duplicates– Keep moving down to the “Utilities” section and tap on “Duplicates.”
- Review & Merge– Tap “Merge” next to individual sets of duplicates to combine them. Or, tap “Select” on the top right and then “Select All” on the top left, and finally “Merge (x) Items”, with ‘x’ being the number of images at the bottom to merge everything at once.
Following this will merge those pictures, and the duplicate images will go to ‘Recently Deleted’. From here, you can either restore some images if you feel they should be kept back or let them sit. After 30 days, those photos get deleted on their own. If you want to haste it up, you can also delete them from the Recently Deleted folder within the device. In either case, your duplicate photos will get taken care of, and the merging will also go smooth.
