How to Pin a Location on Google Maps – Explained
TwitterWhatsappLinkedin

Google Maps is packed with features, and one of the handiest is dropping a pin. It’s perfect for saving a spot without an address or for sharing a meeting location. However, when you need this feature the most, you’ll probably forget how it worked and find yourself searching for how to pin a location in Google Maps.

Dropping a Google Maps pin especially comes in handy if you’re living in a crowded city. We mix the feature with a healthy dose of superstition, and pin our location after parking our car. We haven’t made the headlines, like the man who forgot where he parked his car and found it 20 years later, so the trick has been working. Here’s a step-by-step guide to dropping a pin on Google Maps.

How to Pin Your Location on Google Maps

You can quickly pin your location on Google Maps by holding down on the map.

How to drop a pin on Google Maps (mobile)

  • Open Google Maps on your phone
  • Browse or search until you find the spot you want to mark
  • Press and hold on that exact spot
  • A red pin will appear

Google Maps changes its UI with design updates every few years, but the way you drop pins always remains the same.

How to drop a pin on Google Maps (Desktop)

  • Head to Google Maps in your browser
  • Navigate to the location you want to mark
  • Single click on the spot
  • A grey pin will appear along with a small info box at the bottom of the screen

How to save a dropped pin on Google Maps

  • Once the pin is dropped, look at the info bar that appears at the bottom
  • Tap or click “Save”
  • Choose which list you want to add it to, or create a new one
  • You can now access it anytime under “You” (mobile) or “Saved” (desktop)

The sequence is somewhat similar to how you make betslips on 100 rs signup bonus betting sites, where you choose your picks and they appear at the bottom of your screen automatically.

How to share a dropped pin on Google Maps

  • Drop your pin and tap the info bar at the bottom
  • Select “Share”
  • Choose how you want to send it
  • The recipient gets a direct link that opens straight to that location

How to delete a dropped pin on Google Maps

  • If the pin wasn’t saved, just tap anywhere else on the map, and it vanishes on its own
  • If you saved it, open the “You” tab on mobile or “Saved” on desktop
  • Find the pin in your list, tap the three dots next to it
  • Select “Delete”, and it’s gone

Overall, this is one of the simplest features on Google Maps, but because the app doesn’t clearly explain how to use it, many users may never discover it. Most apps have similar hidden frustrations, whether it’s finding your liked posts on Facebook or stopping pop-up ads on Android. The good news is that once you learn how to do these things, they usually become second nature.
