Start up the Redaction Tool
You can open your PDF and look for the “Tools” center. We are searching for the Redact icon, and it usually looks like a different yet plain page. Once you click on that, a specialized toolbar will appear at the top of your workspace.
Mark for Redaction
Now, once you have selected the option, choose “Mark for Redaction” from that new menu. You can simply click and drag your cursor over the text, images, or entire page you need to hide. It is important to hide everything you want to hide, to make sure nothing stays revealed. Adobe will put a red outline around those areas to show you what’s being hidden.
Preview
If you hover your mouse over those red boxes, you’ll see a preview of the final black box. That is how your PDF will look after the changes. This is your chance to make sure you didn’t accidentally clip any important context, and if you do, you can come back and make the changes.
Apply the Changes
This is the most important step. Just click on the Apply button in the secondary toolbar. A warning will pop up on the screen telling you this is permanent and cannot be changed. You must click on “OK.” Adobe will now erase that data from the document’s code. Adobe will ask you if you want to hide the data. Accept it.
Save a New Copy
After the changes have been made, you must always save this as a separate file.
