Not all Pokémon in Cobblemon are rideable. Only certain species have the ability to be used as mounts, and typically, these are Pokémon that make sense logically—large, strong, and built for transportation. For example, Rapidash and Mudsdale are excellent for land travel, while Pokémon like Pidgeot or Salamence can take you high into the sky.

Before you try to ride a Pokémon, make sure it’s one that can actually be used as a mount. If you’re unsure, check the in-game mechanics or experiment with different Pokémon in your party.

How to Ride Pokémon

To ride a Pokémon in Cobblemon, follow these simple steps:

  1. Catch a Rideable Pokémon – First, you need to have a Pokémon that is capable of being ridden. If you don’t already have one, go out and catch one that fits the bill. Look for large Pokémon with a reputation for carrying people.
  2. Summon Your Pokémon – Once you have a rideable Pokémon, summon it into the world. You can do this by throwing its Poké Ball onto the ground.
  3. Mount the Pokémon – Approach your Pokémon and right-click (or use the equivalent action button on your platform). If the Pokémon is rideable, you will automatically mount it.
  4. Control Your Pokémon – Once mounted, you can move around using the standard movement controls. Some Pokémon have special movement mechanics, such as flying or swimming, which allow you to traverse different types of terrain.
  5. Dismount – When you’re ready to get off, press the appropriate dismount button (usually Shift or another key depending on your settings).

Flying on Pokémon

One of the most exciting parts of riding Pokémon in Cobblemon is the ability to fly. Flying Pokémon allow you to move quickly across the world, avoiding obstacles like mountains, water, and forests.

To fly:

  • Mount a flying-type Pokémon like Charizard, Dragonite, or Pidgeot.
  • Jump to start hovering.
  • Look up to gain altitude and look down to descend.
  • Use standard movement controls to navigate the skies.

Flying is incredibly useful for scouting locations, traveling long distances, or simply enjoying the beautiful world of Cobblemon from above.

Riding Water Pokémon

If you need to cross bodies of water, certain Pokémon can act as aquatic mounts. Pokémon like Gyarados, Lapras, and Wailord can carry you across lakes and oceans with ease.

  • Mount a water Pokémon while near the water.
  • Move in the direction you want to go, just like with land-based mounts.
  • Some Pokémon may have special swimming speeds, making them better choices for water travel.

Best Pokémon for Riding

If you want to maximize your riding experience, choosing the right Pokémon is important. Here are some of the best Pokémon for different types of travel:

  • Land Travel: Arcanine, Rapidash, Mudsdale, Tauros
  • Flying: Charizard, Dragonite, Salamence, Pidgeot
  • Water Travel: Lapras, Gyarados, Wailord

Each of these Pokémon provides a unique riding experience, so experiment and see which one suits your playstyle best.

Benefits of Riding Pokémon

Why should you bother riding Pokémon instead of walking? Here are some major benefits:

  • Faster Travel – Walking across the map takes time, but a rideable Pokémon can cover ground much more quickly.
  • Avoiding Obstacles – Climbing mountains, crossing rivers, or navigating dense forests is easier when you have a Pokémon to ride.
  • Exploration – With flying Pokémon, you can explore high-up areas that would be difficult to reach on foot.
  • Aesthetic Appeal – Let’s be honest, riding your favorite Pokémon just looks cool!

Troubleshooting Issues

Sometimes, you might run into problems while trying to ride a Pokémon. Here are a few common issues and their solutions:

  • Can’t Mount a Pokémon? – Make sure it’s actually rideable. Not all Pokémon can be ridden.
  • Movement Feels Slow? – Some Pokémon naturally move slower than others. Try switching to a different rideable Pokémon.
  • Can’t Fly Properly? – Double-check your controls and ensure you’re using a Pokémon that can actually fly.
