Hyperbloom is a transformative elemental reaction in Genshin Impact, triggered when the Electro element is applied to Dendro Cores generated by the Bloom reaction. The core mechanics behind Hyperbloom require three elemental interactions: Hydro, Dendro, and Electro. Below is a step-by-step guide on how to trigger Hyperbloom effectively, including key strategies for maximizing its damage and efficiency.

1. Understanding Bloom

Before diving into Hyperbloom, it’s crucial to understand Bloom, the base reaction it builds upon. Bloom is triggered when Hydro (water) interacts with Dendro (plant-based) elements. This combination produces Dendro Cores, which are small, time-limited entities that explode after a few seconds, dealing Dendro damage to nearby enemies. These cores are at the heart of Hyperbloom.

2. Initiating Hyperbloom

Hyperbloom occurs when Electro is applied to the Dendro Cores produced by Bloom. When Electro attacks hit these cores, they transform into homing projectiles called “Sprawling Shots.” These projectiles target enemies and deal powerful AoE Dendro damage in a smaller radius, offering precise and devastating attacks. Unlike other Bloom reactions, Hyperbloom does not harm the player, making it safer to trigger even in close combat scenarios.

3. Essential Elements for Hyperbloom

To trigger Hyperbloom consistently, you need a team that balances Dendro, Hydro, and Electro characters. Here’s how each element plays its role:

  • Hydro: A Hydro character initiates the Bloom reaction by applying Hydro to enemies already affected by Dendro. Characters like Xingqiu and Kokomi are great choices, as they provide continuous Hydro application even while off-field.
  • Dendro: Dendro characters are essential for creating Bloom Cores. Nahida or the Dendro Traveler work well due to their strong Dendro application abilities.
  • Electro: Finally, you need an Electro character to trigger Hyperbloom. Kuki Shinobu is an excellent choice due to her ability to apply Electro continuously while healing the team. Alternatively, Raiden Shogun offers more burst damage, although she lacks healing capabilities.

4. Best Team Compositions

To maximize the effectiveness of Hyperbloom, carefully select your team members. Here are some of the best characters and combinations:

  • Kuki Shinobu + Xingqiu + Nahida: Kuki’s Electro application paired with Xingqiu’s Hydro and Nahida’s Dendro creates a reliable Hyperbloom team. The combination allows for frequent triggering of Dendro Cores while ensuring consistent healing and damage.
  • Raiden Shogun + Collei + Barbara: This team uses Raiden for Electro application, Collei for Dendro, and Barbara for off-field Hydro application. It focuses on maximizing both Hyperbloom reactions and overall team durability.

5. Boosting Hyperbloom Damage

The strength of Hyperbloom depends largely on the Elemental Mastery (EM) of the character triggering the reaction. The higher their EM, the more powerful the Hyperbloom damage. It’s recommended to prioritize artifacts and weapons that boost EM for your Electro character. For example, the Gilded Dreams set is a good artifact set to enhance Elemental Mastery. This setup is especially effective when using Kuki Shinobu, as she benefits greatly from both EM and HP boosts for healing.

6. Tips for Hyperbloom

  • Positioning: Make sure to stay at a safe distance from the enemy when triggering Hyperbloom. While the Dendro Cores will not harm your character, it’s still wise to position yourself strategically to avoid unnecessary damage from enemies.
  • Constant Elemental Application: Ensure that Hydro and Dendro are constantly applied to the enemy, creating an endless supply of Bloom Cores. Characters with off-field elemental abilities, like Xingqiu’s Rain Swords or Nahida’s Seed of Skandha, make it easier to maintain this cycle.
  • Timing: Timing is critical in Hyperbloom, as you need to apply Electro quickly before the Dendro Cores expire. The window between generating a Dendro Core and triggering Hyperbloom is short, so having a well-coordinated team can make all the difference.

7. Common Mistakes

  • Overloading the field: If too many Dendro Cores are generated at once and left untriggered, they can detonate on their own. While this deals damage, it wastes the potential for Hyperbloom, which deals more focused and powerful damage.
  • Ignoring Elemental Mastery: Failing to boost your Electro character’s Elemental Mastery can drastically reduce the effectiveness of Hyperbloom. Ensure that your team’s stats are optimized for maximum EM.
  • Poor Team Synergy: Without a good balance between Hydro, Dendro, and Electro, you may struggle to generate enough Bloom Cores or miss the opportunity to trigger Hyperbloom altogether.
