If player fatigue and injuries are making your Franchise games frustrating, you may want to turn off Wear and Tear in Madden NFL 27. The system tracks the physical punishment players receive during games and practices, meaning heavily used players can become less effective as the season continues. EA Sports has also expanded the system in Madden NFL 27, making workload management an even bigger part of Franchise mode.

Steps To Disable Wear And Tear

To turn the feature off, follow these steps:

  1. Open Madden NFL 27 and enter the main menu.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Open Game Options.
  4. Look for the Wear and Tear section.
  5. Change Wear and Tear from On to Off.
  6. Save or apply your settings before returning to Franchise mode.

The setting is especially useful if you want a more traditional Madden experience without constantly managing player health and workload.

Can You Turn It Off In Franchise Mode?

Yes, but there is an important detail to remember. Madden NFL 27 gives Franchise players more control over how Wear and Tear affects their team. The system is designed to work alongside practice intensity, player workload, recovery, and usage throughout the season.

If you are already inside a Franchise, check the league settings rather than assuming that changing a general gameplay option will automatically change an existing league. Depending on the Franchise setup, some settings may be controlled by the league or commissioner.

If you are creating a new Franchise, it is best to check the settings before starting the league. This prevents you from playing several weeks before realizing that Wear and Tear is still active.

Why Turn Off Wear And Tear?

Wear and Tear can make Franchise mode more demanding because players do not simply reset after every game. Repeated hits, tackles, blocks, and heavy workloads can affect how players perform.

For example, a running back receiving a huge number of carries may suffer more physical wear than a backup who barely sees the field. The system is intended to make managing a roster more strategic, particularly late in the season.

However, not everyone enjoys this style of gameplay. You may want to turn it off if:

  • You prefer faster, simpler Franchise management.
  • Your players are becoming tired too quickly.
  • You do not want to manage practice workloads.
  • You want your starters available for most games.
  • You are testing teams or custom rosters.
  • You simply prefer classic Madden gameplay.

What Happens After Turning It Off?

Disabling Wear and Tear removes the game’s Wear and Tear mechanic from your gameplay experience, but it does not mean every injury or fatigue-related mechanic disappears. Regular injuries and other gameplay systems can still operate depending on your Franchise settings.

It is also worth remembering that Wear and Tear is not the same thing as the normal Injury slider. If you want fewer injuries overall, you may need to adjust the Injury setting separately.

Should You Turn It Off?

That depends on how you want Madden NFL 27 to play. If you enjoy realistic roster management, keeping Wear and Tear enabled can add another layer of strategy. If you would rather focus on playing games without worrying about your best players constantly accumulating physical damage, turning it off is the easier option.
