Poked someone on Facebook, but having second thoughts about it? Follow the guide to know how you can make it happen. We shall see the steps to do the same, along with some more info on the matter. So, let us begin.
What is a poke on Facebook?
Poke is nothing but a slight reminder to someone that you’ve thought about them and want to connect. It’s basically a simple, digital nudge that alarms the other person. When you poke a friend, they get a notification that you did it, and they have the option to poke you back. It’s just a nudge and is less than a text that you send. It isn’t something heavy and is pretty casual, so people use it for all sorts of lighthearted reasons. It’s mostly about a quick interaction that doesn’t take long and also lets the person know you’re there.
Who can’t poke me on Facebook?
Poking doesn’t have a differentiating system among people until you give it one. Generally, the people who can’t poke you on Facebook are those who are not your friends and anyone you have explicitly blocked on the platform. That’s how the algorithm understands it and doesn’t let you poke them. The poke feature is primarily designed for friendly interaction, so it’s usually restricted to people in your friends list, and nobody from the outside can do that. If you’ve unfriended or blocked someone, their ability to send you a poke is also removed. If you don’t want someone to be able to poke you, blocking them is the simplest and long-term solution.
Steps to undo a poke on Facebook
If you have poked somebody but now changed your mind, or if you have second thoughts about it, you can undo it. These are the steps that you’ll need for that.
Find Your Activity Log
Your Activity Log is what you need to rush to in Facebook Settings & Privacy. This is where you’ll find the solution.
Locate “Pokes”
Within the Activity Log, you’ll need to filter your activities. Not everything you see there is your concern right now. Find the category that talks about your interactions or pokes.
Delete the Poke
This page will show a list of all the pokes you’ve sent to your friends. Find the specific poke you want to take back, and you can undo it.
Click on Delete
Click the three dots next to the person’s name on the list and then choose the Delete option from the menu. This removes the poke from your history, and they won’t see the notification on the poke page anymore, making it vanish completely.
It is like a safety valve which you can simply push once the need be. But be respectful and responsible in sending pokes in the first place. If you’ve sent it to someone close, they are likely to reciprocate soon, but if you do otherwise, you can totally avoid it.
