What is Afterpay?

Afterpay is a prominent “buy now, pay later” service that allows consumers to purchase items immediately and pay for them in interest-free installments. Typically, purchases are split into four equal payments made over a six-week period, which is not very long but can really help someone pay. The initial payment is due at the time of purchase, with subsequent payments automatically deducted every two weeks from a linked debit or credit card. Afterpay primarily generates revenue through merchant fees rather than consumer interest, though late fees may apply for missed payments. It offers a convenient payment alternative without a direct impact on credit scores for on-time payments. If you too want to have your payments made easy, then afterpay can be a great way for you.

Can Afterpay be used on Cash App?

Well, yes! You can indeed use Afterpay directly through your Cash App account now. They’ve integrated the service, calling it “Cash App Afterpay.” This means you can either choose “Afterpay” when checking out online at participating stores or if you’ve made a recent Cash App Card purchase that qualifies, you might be able to convert it into an Afterpay payment plan right within the app. It is an organized process, and you won’t have trouble doing it. It’s designed to make “buy now, pay later” simpler, as you manage everything directly within the Cash App, without needing a separate Afterpay account.

How to use Afterpay in the Cash App?

If you want to use afterpay in the Cash App, then these are the steps that you can follow –

For Online Purchases at Checkout

  • When shopping online at a participating retailer, select “Afterpay” as your payment method during checkout. This will do it!
  • Post this, you will be redirected to your Cash App to confirm the purchase, and it will be split into four interest-free installments, typically due every two weeks.

For Eligible Past Cash App Card Purchases

  • If you’ve made a recent Cash App Card purchase, usually within 7 days of at least $25 at an in-network merchant, check your Cash App “Activity” tab.
  • Eligible transactions will display a “Pay over time available” option, allowing you to convert the purchase into an Afterpay plan directly within the app. Doing this will make the payment in installments, and thereby easy.
  • All payment schedules and management for Cash App Afterpay purchases are handled exclusively within the Cash App, eliminating the need for a separate Afterpay account.

Afterpay is there to make your payments easy. It would be really helpful if you learn to use them in the right way since we understand that sometimes paying for a purchase in one go can be challenging. But now you can easily manage this!
