What is FaceTime on an Android?

FaceTime on Android, as generally people understand it, isn’t an app you can download, but a web-based experience. It is a way of communicating and connecting without having an Apple device. You can’t host or start a call from your Android device, but as long as a friend with an iPhone or Mac sends you a unique invite link to join, you can join directly through your mobile browser. That is typically how it works. It’s like being invited to a room without having the ability to open the door, as someone has to do it for you from the inside. It’s quite straightforward and allows you to give video and audio access without needing an Apple ID! Although you don’t get the other additional features that can be used during conversations, like specialized emojis, the basic thing works out.

Steps to use FaceTime on Android

If you want to use FaceTime on Android, these are the steps that you can follow.

Receive the Invite

Remember that you can only join a link that is sent to you, but you cannot generate a link yourself. You can ask a friend with an Apple device to open their FaceTime app and tap on “Create Link” to send this URL to you via text, email, or WhatsApp if they use it.

Open the Link

Once you have it in your inbox, you can tap on the link you have received. It will automatically open in your mobile browser. Irrespective of the mobile browser that you use, it opens just fine.

Type Your Name

A web page will load right next, asking you for your name. Enter your name and proceed ahead.

Grant Permissions

Your browser will ask for permission to use your camera and microphone, and you can fill those in. You must select “Allow” for the call to work; it won’t.

Request to Join

Tap on the green “Join” button on your screen. Your work is done here.

Wait

Once you have done all the above-mentioned things, the Apple user will get a notification that you are “waiting to be let in.” They have to tap a checkmark to admit you. Once they do so, you live inside, and you’re a part of FaceTime. And the best part is you don’t have to ask them the same thing over and over again. You can simply reuse that same link later!

And that is just how you can use FaceTime even on your Android device!
