6 April, 2016, Sweden: Remodelling your kitchen is always a tough nut to crack as it requires lots of thinking, imagination, creativity and most important, manpower. But Ikea has now made the entire procedure a different ball game all together. The company is all set to reveal its pilot virtual reality app called ‘Ikea VR Experience’ which can be operated with the help of HTC Vive headset. It will be launching the app today.
The app, built using the Unreal Engine 4 from Epic Games, puts Vive headset owners into a virtual Ikea kitchen of real-world size. Users can then change the cabinet and drawer colors for three different kitchens, and view it from the height of a child or adult, reports The Verge.
With this app, company will be putting down its first step in the world of VR. Commenting on the development, Jesper Brodin, MD, Ikea, said, “Virtual reality is developing quickly and in five to ten years it will be an integrated part of people’s lives. We see that virtual reality will play a major role in the future of our customers. For instance, someday, it could be used to enable customers to try out a variety of home furnishing solutions before buying them.”
