Company received highest score for current offering and strategy in evaluation of its agile data integration platform

Bangalore, India, March 16, 2015 – Informatica Corporation (Nasdaq:INFA), the world’s number one independent provider of data integration software, today announced that it has been positioned as a leader in The Forrester Wave™: Enterprise Data Virtualization, Q1 2015, published March 11.  The company received the highest score for current offering and strategy for its agile data integration platform.

Forrester defines enterprise data virtualization as, “The integration of any data in real-time or near-real time from disparate structured, unstructured, and semi-structured data sources, whether on-premises or cloud into coherent data services that support business transactions, analytics, predictive analytics, and other workloads and patterns.”

Forrester evaluated vendors against 60 criteria, which it grouped into three high-level buckets:

  • Current offering. To assess the breadth and depth of each vendor’s data virtualization product, Forrester evaluated each solution’s architectural and operational functionality.
  • Strategy. Forrester received each vendor’s strategy to assess how each vendor plans to evolve its data virtualization solution to meet emerging customer demands. Forrester also evaluated each vendor’s go-to-market approach, commitment, and direction strategies.
  • Market presence. To establish each data virtualization product’s market presence, Forrester evaluated each solution provider’s company financials, adoption, and partnerships.

In the report, Forrester describes Informatica as among the vendors that “lead the pack,” offering “innovative, proven platforms that support large enterprises’ data virtualization needs, some of which run into hundreds of terabytes into petabytes.” Forrester noted that Informatica is one of the leaders that continues to “hold strong leadership positions” and often remains one of the “most popular vendors shortlisted by large enterprises.”

According to the report, authored by analysts Noel Yuhanna, Leslie Owens and Elizabeth Cullen, “Enterprise architects find Informatica’s data virtualization delivers very good support for large structured data sets when integrating data with cloud sources, such as software-as-a-service (SaaS), extending existing ETL frameworks to support real-time initiatives, and data quality to ensure a high degree of accuracy.”

Forrester wrote that, “Overall, Informatica has a good vision and strong strategy, focusing on: 1) delivering all aspects of data management in real-time; 2) support for distributed in-memory data fabric; and 3) a comprehensive self-service platform that focuses on business users. Customers like Informatica’s advanced data quality and profiling features, model-driven approach to provisioning data services, role-specific tools, and drag-and-drop modeling capabilities.”

In addition, the report noted, “With the release of Springbok [Informatica Rev, Informatica’s Cloud Data Preparation product] – a self-service data preparation tool that allows analyst and business users to directly exploit data without involving IT – Informatica is starting to break- away from its traditional data integration category toward an intelligent data platform that is real-time, self-service, and agile.”

Ash Parikh, vice president of product marketing, Data Integration and Security, Informatica, said, “We believe our position as a leader in The Forrester Wave for Enterprise Data Virtualization results from our providing a comprehensive, end-to-end agile data integration platform, which uniquely combines the sophistication of data integration with the flexibility of data federation in a single platform, along with managed self-service. Ultimately, this agile data integration platform – which utilizes role-based tools for business-IT collaboration, rapid prototyping and profiling – enables users to complete data integration projects, deliver trusted data, and recognize business value, in a matter of days, versus many months. With v9.6, we made our basic data virtualization for development capabilities free for all data integration customers to help them jump-start their first few projects.”

Informatica Corporation (Nasdaq:INFA) is the world’s number one independent provider of data integration software. Organizations around the world rely on Informatica to realize their information potential and drive top business imperatives. Informatica Vibe, the industry’s first and only embeddable virtual data machine (VDM), powers the unique “Map Once. Deploy Anywhere.” capabilities of the Informatica Platform. Worldwide, over 5,500 enterprises depend on Informatica to fully leverage their information assets from devices to mobile to social to big data residing on-premise, in the Cloud and across social networks.
