9 February, 2016, USA: James Barrese has finally called his day at the office. Barrese who has been working with Ebay’s PayPal as Chief Technical Officer will be resigning from 1st April. He would be replaced by Sri Shivananda, PayPal’s VP of Global Platform & Infrastructure.

Barrese was heading the CTO position since March 2015. With his resignation, company will be doing a lot reshuffling of work at its top positions. As a part of that, William Ready, will take over ‘payment services functions’ operations which is currently handled by Barrese. Ready currently holds the position of Company’s Global Head of Product & Engineering.

Still the speculations are hovering around the market about the reason behind the CTO’s exit and why his position has been split into two. Barrese joined PayPal in 2011 after a decade as eBay and was appointed its chief technology officer in 2012. The company reported strong quarterly earnings last month, with revenue up 17 percent year over year.
