Licious raises $25 million

Some other investors that participated in the latest Series D funding round are Bertelsmann India Investments, UCLA, Sistema Asia Fund, 3one4 Capital, and Vertex Ventures Southeast Asia and India.

The startup, as of now, is serving in NCR along with Bangalore and Hyderabad. With the new capital, it is planning to launch its services in seven new cities by the early next year. Chennai, Pune, and Mumbai are expected to be in this expansion list.

The startup is also planning to utilize a significant portion of the funding to ramp up its product portfolio and supply chain management.

Licious has built up a ‘farm-to-fork business model’ with an entire back-end supply chain. This helps to maintain the freshness and quality of each product from the time of procurement, storage to processing to reach the end user.

Founded by Vivek Gupta and Abhay Hanjura in the year 2015, Licious is among the few startups with FSSC 22000 Food Safety System Certification and is catering to the premium meat eaters market in the country.
