A Landmark Moment in the Quest for Multimodal General Intelligence

Luma AI, the frontier artificial intelligence company pushing the boundaries of multimodal AGI, has announced a massive $900 million Series C round. The fundraise was led by HUMAIN, a PIF-backed global AI solutions provider, with participation from AMD Ventures, along with existing investors Andreessen Horowitz, Amplify Partners, and Matrix Partners.

This investment marks a defining moment in Luma AI’s mission to build multimodal general intelligence—AI capable of understanding, generating, reasoning, and acting across video, audio, images, language, and even physical environments. Unlike conventional LLMs, Luma’s approach focuses on world models that learn from humanity’s entire digital footprint.

Powering the Future: A 2-Gigawatt AI Supercluster

A key highlight of the announcement is Luma AI’s integration into Project Halo, HUMAIN’s extraordinary 2-gigawatt AI supercluster being built in Saudi Arabia. Once operational, the cluster will stand among the largest compute infrastructure projects on Earth, constructed specifically for training next-generation multimodal systems.

Luma AI will be one of the earliest and largest customers of this supercluster. With compute demands soaring into the quadrillion-token scale—far beyond today’s leading LLMs—the collaboration is designed to support models trained on 1,000 to 10,000 times more multimodal data than current frontier systems.

The companies unveiled their partnership during the U.S.–Saudi Investment Forum in Washington, D.C., alongside the visit of the Crown Prince HRH Mohammad bin Salman Al-Saud, showcasing the geopolitical significance of the collaboration.

Strategic Alignment: Capital, Compute, and Capability

Both companies emphasize that this partnership isn’t simply financial—it’s structural.

Amit Jain, CEO and co-founder of Luma AI, described HUMAIN as the “perfect partner” for their next phase of growth. Jain highlighted that the path to useful multimodal AGI requires learning from the equivalent of humanity’s collective digital memory—spanning video, audio, images, and language—and only HUMAIN’s rapid deployment of frontier compute can support training at this scale.

Tareq Amin, CEO of HUMAIN, echoed this sentiment, underscoring HUMAIN’s philosophy of building the full AI value chain, not just funding it. He emphasized that Luma’s velocity in research and productization makes the company uniquely positioned to advance the frontier of world models.

Ray3 and the Commercialization of World Models

Luma AI already has a powerful proof point: Ray3, its flagship model that converts foundational research into real-world products used across entertainment, advertising, and 3D content creation. Ray3 is broadly deployed in studios and brands worldwide and is even embedded within Adobe’s global products.

The new funding will allow Luma AI to extend this momentum from creative industries into high-impact sectors such as simulation, robotics, industrial design, and digital twins, enabling AI systems that don’t just generate content but can simulate and interact with reality.

Strengthening Sovereign AI and Regional Innovation

Luma AI was also the first model suite integrated into HUMAIN Create, a regional initiative aimed at building sovereign AI tailored for the Arabic-speaking world. These models are designed to reflect the region’s culture, language, and visual identity—supporting enterprises, creators, and governments with AI aligned to local values and nuances.

This approach strengthens the global push toward culturally aware, geographically relevant, and sovereign AI systems.

A New Benchmark for Frontier AI

With a $900 million infusion, world-scale compute access, and a deep partnership across research, deployment, and go-to-market, Luma AI is positioning itself at the forefront of the race toward multimodal AGI.

The collaboration between Luma AI and HUMAIN signals a new era—one where capital, compute, and capability converge to push the boundaries of what AI can understand, simulate, and create.
