Mahindra Group’s decision to create a dedicated AI division is part of a broader effort to centralize AI work across all its business sectors. Lodha, who previously led digital initiatives in Mahindra’s automotive business, stated that the division will be responsible for streamlining AI integration across diverse sectors like automotive, real estate, and hospitality.

Recruiting AI Talent

The AI division is currently focusing on recruiting AI specialists from Mahindra’s group companies. These experts will be tasked with developing AI solutions tailored to different industries within the group. Lodha emphasized the importance of AI in today’s corporate world, noting that the technology has shifted from being an experimental tool to a key driver of business growth over the last two years.

The division’s role goes beyond talent acquisition; it is also focused on developing AI solutions for all Mahindra businesses. These solutions will be designed to meet the specific needs of various sectors, including auto, real estate, and hospitality. The division will also explore collaborations with global startups, universities, and research institutions to source cutting-edge AI technologies.

Collaboration with Tech Mahindra

In a bid to stay at the forefront of AI advancements, Mahindra Group launches AI division that will partner with academic and research institutions. While the new AI division will function independently, it plans to work closely with Tech Mahindra, the group’s IT services arm. Lodha mentioned that although the division may not have as many specialists as Tech Mahindra, it will benefit from collaboration, tapping into Tech Mahindra’s expertise to deploy AI solutions effectively.

One of the main objectives of the AI division is to consolidate AI talent within the group. Lodha pointed out that the division offers employees not only a structured career path but also exciting opportunities to work on varied projects. By creating a skilled workforce dedicated to AI, Mahindra aims to position itself as a leader in AI-driven innovation across industries.Tech Mahindra, a leading global provider of technology and digital solutions, has announced a strategic partnership with Google Cloud. This collaboration aims to accelerate the adoption of generative AI (gen AI) and drive digital transformation for Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M), one of India’s largest industrial enterprises. As part of the agreement, Tech Mahindra will implement AI and machine learning (ML) technologies to improve critical areas of M&M’s business. This includes enhancing engineering, supply chain management, pre-sales, and after-sales services. Tech Mahindra will also lead the digitisation of M&M’s workspace and oversee the transformation of its cloud infrastructure. The company will deploy M&M’s data platform on Google Cloud, further advancing the digital capabilities of M&M.

Looking Ahead

Mahindra Group launches AI division, which will focus on integrating advanced AI technologies in industries such as automotive, real estate, and hospitality. The creation of the AI division brings both challenges and opportunities. On the positive side, AI can enhance efficiency by automating routine tasks and providing data-driven insights for better decision-making. The division is also expected to foster innovation, making Mahindra an attractive destination for top talent in the AI field.

As part of its long-term AI strategy, Mahindra is likely to participate in industry forums and discussions on AI ethics and regulations, ensuring responsible use of AI technology. However, challenges such as managing data privacy, ensuring seamless integration of AI into existing operations, and addressing potential employee concerns about job displacement due to automation may arise.
