Billionaire Elon Musk has introduced Grok 3, the newest flagship AI model from xAI, boasting enhanced capabilities and advanced technology. Musk’s xAI unveils Grok-3 AI with enhanced computing power and faster processing. This announcement comes shortly after Musk revealed that his ChatGPT rival would be launched on February 18.

Grok 3 has been developed using ‘10x’ more computing power compared to its predecessor, delivering superior performance and efficiency. In addition to the flagship model, xAI has also launched Grok 3-mini, a smaller version designed to provide quicker responses to user queries.

Grok 3 is powered by xAI’s Colossus supercomputer, which utilizes over 1,00,000 Nvidia GPU hours for training the AI model. The supercomputer enables faster processing and improved accuracy. Notably, the advanced model was built in just over eight months, reflecting xAI’s rapid development pace.

Reducing Hallucinations with Reinforcement Learning

The new model employs reinforcement learning techniques, which help minimize hallucinations, i.e., incorrect or imaginary responses commonly seen in AI systems. Musk’s xAI unveils Grok-3 AI, claiming to reduce hallucinations using reinforcement learning. Reinforcement learning also speeds up the training times for large language models (LLMs), ensuring more reliable outputs.

Elon Musk has hailed Grok 3 as the “smartest AI on Earth” due to its cutting-edge capabilities. During his speech at The World Government Summit in Dubai, Musk remarked that Grok 3 might be the last AI model to surpass all others, underscoring its advanced potential.

The launch of Grok 3 comes just over a month after Chinese AI startup DeepSeek shook the industry with its cost-efficient reasoning model R1. DeepSeek’s model has been compared to OpenAI’s o1 model in terms of performance despite being developed at a fraction of the cost.

Free Access and Funding Plans

Grok 3 follows the launch of Grok 2 in August last year. The new AI chatbot is free for users who sign up on X, Elon Musk’s social media platform. Musk’s xAI unveils Grok-3 AI, offering free access on the X platform for new users. Meanwhile, xAI is preparing to raise $10 billion in funding in its latest round, with expected participation from global venture capital firms, including Sequoia Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, and Valor Equity Partners. The company’s valuation is projected to reach $75 billion.

Grok 3 is now available to Premium Plus subscribers on X. Users can update their X app to access all the advanced features. Additionally, xAI has introduced a separate subscription called “Super Grok” for enthusiasts who want early access to new features and the most advanced capabilities. Super Grok is available for both the Grok app and the newly launched website, grok.com.

xAI is also working on a voice interaction feature for Grok 3, aiming to provide users with a conversational experience. Musk mentioned that the feature is functional but requires further refinement. The voice interaction update is expected to be available in about a week, promising a more natural, human-like conversation experience.

Elon Musk’s launch of Grok 3, the latest AI model from xAI, has sparked significant attention in the tech world. With claims of being the “smartest AI on Earth” and boasting 10 times more computing power than its predecessor, Grok 3 appears to be a groundbreaking advancement. However, beneath the impressive marketing lies a mix of opportunities and challenges that warrant a closer look.

Grok 3 is built on xAI’s Colossus supercomputer, using over 1,00,000 Nvidia GPU hours, promising faster processing and more accurate responses. The inclusion of reinforcement learning to reduce hallucinations and speed up training times is a significant improvement. These advancements suggest that Grok 3 could outperform existing AI models in terms of accuracy and efficiency.
