New iPhone Fold renders have surfaced online, offering one of the most detailed looks yet at Apple’s long-rumored first foldable smartphone. Shared by well-known tech leaker Jon Prosser and his Front Page Tech (FPT) channel, the images build on recent CAD-based leaks and models to show what Apple’s foldable might actually look like and how it could differ from competitors already on the market.

These visuals arrive amid ongoing speculation that Apple will debut its foldable device alongside the iPhone 18 Pro series in late 2026 or early 2027. While design details aren’t final, the steady stream of leaks has made the foldable iPhone one of the most anticipated smartphones next year.

The new renders depict a book-style foldable design, similar in concept to devices like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold and Google Pixel Fold but with distinct Apple touches. This format features a larger inner display that unfolds like a small tablet and a separate outer screen for quick access when the phone is closed.

Prosser’s images show:

  • A large inner display measuring roughly 7.8 inches when open, resembling the size and aspect ratio of an iPad mini more than a traditional widescreen phone.
  • A smaller, narrow outer screen fitting the folded form factor and supporting basic tasks without opening the device.
  • A book-like hinge, suggesting Apple isn’t pursuing a clamshell flip design but rather a hybrid between tablet and phone.

This design is consistent with multiple leaks that indicate Apple wants its foldable to be useful as both a smartphone and tablet, blending productivity and portability.

Crease-Reduction and Display Technology

One of the most intriguing aspects of the renders is the suggestion that the iPhone Fold may aim for a crease-free or minimal-crease display, a feature Apple has reportedly been experimenting with intensely.

Foldable screens typically show a visible line where the display bends something competitors like Samsung and Honor have not been able to eliminate completely. But Apple’s alleged solution involves advanced materials, including pressure-dispersing metal plates and liquid metal hinges, that could dramatically reduce visible folding lines.

If achieved, this would give Apple an edge in the foldable category by making the inner screen look and feel smoother, closer to the flat displays iPhone users are accustomed to.

Dimensions, Thickness, and Feel

Renders and mockups suggest the iPhone Fold will be relatively thin for a foldable, a critical design goal for Apple’s premium devices:

  • Around 9 mm thick when folded.
  • About 4.5 mm thick when opened, excluding camera modules.

For comparison, many existing foldables are closer to 5 mm when unfolded, making Apple’s potential product notably sleek by category standards.

Fans and enthusiast community models also show that the folded device may feel broader and shorter than traditional phones, a shape likened to a passport or two iPhone Airs side-by-side which could affect one-handed usability but enhance landscape content viewing.

Camera and Biometric Features in Renders

Prosser’s video leaks also touch on hardware beyond the screens:

  • The iPhone Fold is shown with multiple cameras, including at least two rear lenses and at least one camera on the inner and/or outer display frame.
  • Face ID appears integrated into the power button, a rumored shift from the standard TrueDepth system used on traditional iPhones.

Leaked render commentary aligns with broader rumors that Apple might rely more heavily on Touch ID or alternative biometric systems for foldable authentication, given the spatial constraints of foldable designs.

Performance and Internal Specs (Rumored)

Beyond hardware styling, credible leaks from broader coverage suggest the iPhone Fold may pack high-end internals:

  • A potential A20 Pro chipset built on a 2 nm process, promising performance and efficiency improvements over current generation silicon.
  • An integrated Apple-designed C2 modem for advanced connectivity.
  • Large, high-density battery cells to support a dual-screen configuration.

Such specifications would position the iPhone Fold among the most capable smartphones not just in hardware power but in balancing battery life with intensive foldable multitasking.

Price, Market Timing, and Expectations

Analyst speculation places the iPhone Fold’s potential price range between $2,000 and $2,500, significantly higher than most flagship phones today.

Launch timing remains unofficial but is widely expected around September 2026 alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max series assuming Apple can resolve remaining engineering challenges, especially around the display and hinge.

Some analysts have even suggested that Apple might delay launch to early 2027 if it seeks to perfect the device’s design, particularly the crease-free goal.

Why the iPhone Fold Matters

A foldable iPhone represents a major new category for Apple. While other companies have experimented with flexible screens, none have yet delivered a product that blends the polish and ecosystem strength associated with Apple’s flagship lineup.

Industry observers anticipate that Apple’s entry could expand mainstream adoption of foldables, transforming a niche crash-course in form factor experimentation into a core part of the mobile landscape particularly if the device lives up to expectations for design, performance, and user experience.

Renders based on leaked CAD designs especially when shared by known figures like Jon Prosser offer a compelling glimpse of what the iPhone Fold might become. But they remain unofficial and speculative until Apple confirms or debunks them at a product launch event.

Still, the consistency of leaks across multiple sources from community CAD models to industry analysts suggests the device is very real and on track to be one of the most intriguing smartphone debuts of the year.
