OnePlus is going further into the world of artificial intelligence with its new move, revealing a wide range of AI-based features and hardware integration under the OnePlus AI brand.
The firm’s new endeavor is a far cry from its previous AI efforts, with AI technology said to deliver greater functionality and more natural user interfaces for its future OnePlus 13s series and beyond.
At the center of this project is bringing forward the AI Mind Space, a revolutionary feature that will come on the new OnePlus 13s. This revolutionary technology is accessed via a unique side button known as the Plus Key, which has replaced OnePlus’ Alert slider.
OnePlus AI Features Overview
Users trigger the AI Mind Space by pressing and holding the Plus Key, which is driven by the AI Plus Mind engine. This cutting-edge device scans on-screen content to help users save, categorize, and recall information with ease.
For example, it can recognize dates or events and automatically plan them on your calendar, recognize locations to give related information, or translate on-screen foreign languages.
All information processed by AI Mind Space is indexed and stored for rapid retrieval so natural language keywords can be used for easy searching by users. Towards the end of the year, an auto-categorization function will further simplify content management by making it more convenient and productive.
The launch of AI Plus Mind will initially begin with the OnePlus 13s and subsequently be made available for other OnePlus 13-series phones via future updates. For devices that do not have the Plus Key, it is merely a three-fingered swipe on the screen to get AI Mind Space, with the same user experience everywhere across the ecosystem.
OnePlus’s New AI Features for Enhanced Smartphone Functionality
With AI Mind Space, OnePlus is also launching a series of other AI features that aim to revolutionize smartphone functionality. AI VoiceScribe, for example, accelerates productivity by recording, summarizing, and translating calls and meetings within popular messaging and video conferencing apps. AI Call Assistant, launched in India first, in turn, provides call summary and real-time call translation features through the new OnePlus Dialer app.
The AI Translation app brings together a lot of translation features in one easy-to-use interface like text, real-time voice, camera-based, and even screen translation. This integration simplifies language communication, whether you are reading a foreign language or speaking in real-time.
The photography community will love AI Reframe in the Photos app which examines photo composition and offers creative reframe options. The feature allows users to improve their photography storytelling with ease. AI Best Face 2.0 also enhances portrait quality by automatically detecting and fixing common flaws such as closed eyes or unnatural expressions.
OnePlus is also enhancing its collaboration with Google Gemini, moving toward greater integration between OxygenOS apps such as OnePlus Notes and Clock. Gemini Live allows screen and camera real-time sharing, expanding opportunity for collaboration among users.
Following privacy protocols, OnePlus places maximum emphasis on processing personal information on the device.
When additional computation is required, the company uses its Private Computing Cloud, with the processing of encrypted data on devices and in cloud servers. It uses a Trusted Execution Environment to protect user data during the transit and processing phases.
