Polestar dropped new details on Polestar 2 BST 230 on Tuesday, showcasing its extremely limited edition version. The latest iteration of the Polestar 2 BST 270, which was launched last year, has received significant upgrades from the Swedish automaker. With increased power and unique cosmetic features, the vehicle stands out from its predecessors.
Polestar recently gave a glimpse of the upcoming version of its BST 270 through a teaser. The BST 270, also known as “beast,” is a powerful vehicle that already made its debut last year. The latest edition is expected to include additional power and cosmetic enhancements that set it apart from the previous model. The previous version came with a 78 kWh battery and 469 horsepower, which is more than the standard 402 horsepower that the dual-motor Polestar 2 provides.
Polestar has managed to increase the power of the latest edition of the BST 270, which was released last year. The new BST 230 boasts an additional seven horsepower while maintaining its impressive 680 Nm of foot torque. Polestar has mainly focused on “performance design” in making changes from the 270 to the 230. In contrast to the mass-market-oriented Polestar 2, the BST 230 comes with upgrades to its chassis, brakes, dampers, and high-performance EV tires. “Limited drops like the BST edition 230 allow us to explore colors, graphics, and materials in faster and more creative ways,” Polestar CEO Thomas Ingenlath stated. The BST 230 has exclusive green Nebula paint, a racing stripe, MicroSuede textile seats, and steering wheel inserts as part of its cosmetic features.
Features
The vehicle also boasts unique wheels that are exclusively designed for the BST edition. These 21-inch gloss black diamond-cut alloy wheels are paired with Pirelli P-Zero tires that are optimized for enhancing the EV’s performance, handling, and traction. Polestar has listed several upgrades for the new BST 230, including bespoke Öhlins dampers, adjustable DFV rear and 2-way adjustable DFV front, lowered ride height by around 25mm, front strut bar, and bespoke Pirelli P-Zero tires 245/35 R21, among others. The company aimed to engineer refined driving dynamics with the new BST 230, and it included the Performance software upgrade as a standard feature that increases the motors’ combined output to 350 kW. Additionally, the vehicle has Brembo 4-piston, 400 mm drilled & ventilated discs in the front and single-piston, 390 mm ventilated discs in the rear.
Only 230 units of the Polestar BST 230 will be manufactured, with just 60 of them slated for availability in the United States and Canada. The automaker plans to commence deliveries in the third quarter of 2023.
