Swedish automaker Polestar has recently announced the launch of its latest creation, the Polestar 4 SUV Coupe, which is being touted as the fastest production vehicle ever made by the company. The vehicle is part of the SUV Coupe segment, which has a unique profile that is sleeker than traditional SUV offerings while still retaining higher ground clearance. Polestar’s latest offering is no exception, as it comes with a host of design quirks that are sure to turn heads on the road. The Polestar 4’s design is similar to its siblings, the Polestar 2 sedan and Precept Concept vehicle, with a profile that is less bulky than the full-size Polestar 3 SUV. However, it still maintains the ground clearance of the latter, making it a versatile vehicle that can handle various terrains. The Polestar 4’s unique design features include a long hood, a tapered roofline, and a distinctive grille with the Polestar logo.
Under the hood, the Polestar 4 is powered by a hybrid powertrain that combines a four-cylinder engine with an electric motor. The company claims that the vehicle can go from zero to 60 mph in less than four seconds, making it the fastest car ever produced by Polestar. The vehicle also features advanced safety features, including a 360-degree camera system and automated emergency braking. The Polestar 4 will be available for purchase in select markets, including the United States, Europe, and China, in late 2022 or early 2023. The automaker has not yet released pricing details for the vehicle.
Design
the Polestar 4 SUV Coupe, has a unique design that has caught the attention of many automotive journalists. Instead of a traditional rear window, the vehicle features cameras that provide the driver with a complete view of the vehicle’s surroundings. The Polestar 4’s side panels are also noteworthy, with some of the most aggressively carved door panels on the market, second only to the Ford Mustang Mach-E. According to Thomas Ingenlath, Polestar CEO, the Polestar 4 is a new breed of SUV Coupe that celebrates rear occupant comfort and experience. Unlike other SUV coupes that compromise rear headroom and comfort by simply modifying an existing SUV and giving it a faster roofline, the Polestar 4 was designed from the ground up with a new approach to SUV coupe design.
But it’s not just the design that sets the Polestar 4 apart. The SUV Coupe is also impressively fast and powerful, with specs that back up the company’s claim that it is “our fastest production vehicle to date.” The Polestar 4 will come in either dual-motor all-wheel-drive or single-motor rear-wheel-drive, with the top trim (dual-motor) accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.8 seconds. This quick acceleration is made possible by the vehicle’s 544 horsepower and 506 pound-feet of torque.
Other features and price
The Polestar 4 SUV Coupe offers different options for buyers to choose from. Those who prefer a more conservative option can go for the single-motor variant, which provides 272 horsepower and 253 pound-feet of torque. On the other hand, the dual-motor high-performance variant boasts a “semi-active” suspension system, enabling drivers to adjust settings for either comfort or performance. Buyers can also choose between standard-range or long-range battery sizes. With the massive 102kWh battery, the dual-motor variant can cover up to 335 miles, while the single motor can go up to 373 miles. However, the specifications for the standard range version have not yet been released but will be expected shortly before the launch of the vehicle in China.
The Polestar 4 will first be available in China during the fourth quarter of this year, and it is expected to hit the global market in the first half of 2024. The Swedish automaker is starting the production of the vehicle in China and is planning to expand to other locations as it enters new regions.
