Samsung has lifted the bar in the smartwatch market with the introduction of the Galaxy Watch 7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra at the Galaxy Unpacked event in Paris. This year marks a huge departure for Samsung, as it offers the first-ever Ultra edition in the Galaxy Watch line, replacing prior years’ Classic variant.

Starting with cost, the Galaxy Watch 7 starts at $299 in the United States. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Watch Ultra costs $649. For Indian users, the Galaxy Watch 7 costs Rs. 29,999 for the 40mm Bluetooth variant and Rs. 33,999 for the Bluetooth and LTE variant.

The 44mm Bluetooth variant retails for Rs. 32,999, while the Bluetooth and LTE variant costs Rs. 36,999. The Galaxy Watch Ultra is only available in a 47mm size and costs Rs. 59,999.

Pre-orders for both versions will commence on July 10 at 8 p.m. IST, with sales starting on July 24. Samsung is providing appealing pre-booking incentives, including a multi-bank rebate of Rs. 8,000 or an upgrade bonus of the same amount for the Galaxy Watch 7, and Rs. 10,000 for the Galaxy Watch Ultra.

The Galaxy Watch 7 comes in two sizes, 40mm and 44mm. The 40mm version is 40.4×40.4×9.7mm and weighs 28.8g, while the 44mm model measures 44.4×44.4×9.7mm and weighs 33.8g.

The smaller variant features a 1.3-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 432×432 pixels, while the larger model has a 1.5-inch display with a resolution of 480×480 pixels. Both screens are always on, providing bright and colorful graphics.

The Galaxy Watch 7 is powered by Samsung’s latest 3nm Exynos W1000 CPU, together with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. This is the first time Samsung has employed a 3nm processor in its smartwatches, which promises improved performance and economy. The watch runs Google’s Wear OS-based One UI 6 Watch, which has a sleek and user-friendly interface.

The battery life varies between the two sizes, with the 40mm model using a 300mAh battery and the 44mm model using a 425mAh battery. Both devices support WPC-based wireless fast charging.

The Galaxy Watch 7 is equipped with health and fitness tracking features. It features heart rate monitoring, oxygen saturation measuring, and sleep tracking. New additions like Workout Routine allow users to combine different activities, while the Race function compares current and previous performance in real time.

The smartwatch also includes an AI-powered sleep analysis algorithm, FDA-approved sleep apnea detection, and real-time alarms for irregular heart rates. It also offers ECG and blood pressure monitoring.

The Galaxy Watch Ultra, offered in a single 47mm size, is intended for individuals who require a performance-focused smartwatch. It measures 47.1 x 47.4 x 12.1 mm and weighs 60.5 grams. The watch has a titanium-grade frame and a 1.5-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 480×480. The display has a maximum brightness of 3,000 nits, making it comfortably readable in any lighting scenario.

The Galaxy Watch Ultra, like the Watch 7, is powered by the Exynos W1000 CPU and comes with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. It runs the Wear OS-based One UI 6 Watch and has extensive connectivity options, including LTE and Bluetooth 5.3.

The Galaxy Watch Ultra has a 590mAh battery, the largest in the Galaxy Watch range. Samsung claims it can run for up to 100 hours in power-saving mode and 48 hours in workout power-saving mode. It also supports WPC wireless fast charging.

In terms of health and fitness tracking, the Galaxy Watch Ultra has all of the capabilities of the Galaxy Watch 7. It also has a new multi-sports tile for tracking multi-course workouts and a functional threshold power (FTP) feature that measures maximal cycling power.

The watch also employs AI to deliver tailored heart rate zones, allowing users to exercise at their peak intensity. Other features include a Quick Button for easy workout management, an emergency siren, and a Night Mode.
