Samsung continues its aggressive push into AI-powered smartphones with the release of the second One UI 8 beta update for its flagship Galaxy S24 series. Following an earlier release for the Galaxy Z Flip 6, the South Korean tech giant has now begun rolling out the update in the UK, giving early testers a taste of new features, bug fixes, and security improvements.

This latest beta not only addresses user-reported issues from the first release but also brings a significant AI upgrade previously exclusive to the Galaxy S25 lineup the Now Brief feature.

The One UI 8 Beta 2 update is currently rolling out for the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra in the UK. According to sources tracking Samsung’s beta program (including noted tipster @tarunvats33), the new firmware version is S928BXXU4ZYHB, with a download size of roughly 930MB.

Alongside the new features, Samsung has also bundled the September 2025 security patch, reinforcing the company’s commitment to timely security updates even during its beta testing cycle.

While the rollout is currently limited to the UK, it is expected to expand to other regions enrolled in Samsung’s beta program over the next several days. Users who have already registered can manually check for the update by going to Settings → Software update → Download and install.

Galaxy AI’s Now Brief Arrives on the S24

One of the biggest highlights of this update is the arrival of Now Brief, a context-aware AI-powered assistant that dynamically surfaces relevant information based on time, location, and personal usage patterns.

Originally debuting on the Galaxy S25 series, Now Brief is designed to keep users more connected to what matters at any given moment without requiring manual input. Among its capabilities:

  • Smart calendar integration: Shows upcoming meetings, reminders, and travel schedules.
  • Personalized media suggestions: Suggests Spotify and YouTube Music playlists or YouTube video recommendations based on recent listening or viewing habits.
  • Health insights: Pulls key Samsung Health data like step count, heart rate, or workout summaries.
  • Real-time alerts: Displays urgent notifications like severe weather warnings or important updates.

By leveraging Samsung’s on-device AI processing and contextual data, Now Brief aims to act as a lightweight, glanceable hub similar in concept to Google’s old Google Now cards, but updated for the modern AI era.

Key Fixes and Improvements in Beta 2

While AI advancements grab headlines, Beta 2 also addresses several practical issues reported by users during the first testing phase. Samsung’s official changelog lists the following fixes:

  • Applied September security patch for improved device protection.
  • Fixed lock screen fingerprint charging overlap issue that caused UI clutter.
  • Resolved an issue where only icons appeared on the lock screen when receiving notifications.
  • Fixed logo cutting issue in Naver Sports Top Now bar.
  • Corrected a bug that disabled keyboard phrase recommendation after device reboot.
  • Fixed errors that reverted fonts back to default after customization.
  • Addressed an issue where the screen would freeze and revert to the lock screen during app use.
  • Fixed clock widget time display errors for improved reliability.

Together, these improvements signal that Samsung is taking tester feedback seriously, refining both the user interface and system stability as One UI 8 progresses toward its final release.

How to Install the Update

For those already enrolled in the One UI 8 Beta Program, installing Beta 2 is straightforward:

  1. Open Settings on your Galaxy S24 series device.
  2. Navigate to Software update.
  3. Tap Download and install.
  4. Once the update downloads, tap Install now.

The device will reboot and finalize the installation typically within a few minutes.

As with all beta software, Samsung advises users to back up important data before installing, as beta builds may still contain bugs or unforeseen stability issues.

What This Means for Galaxy S24 Owners

The addition of Now Brief signals a significant shift: Samsung is now actively back-porting premium AI features to its existing flagship devices, rather than keeping them exclusive to newer models. For Galaxy S24 owners, this not only extends the lifespan of their device in terms of capabilities but also keeps them competitive in a rapidly evolving AI-driven smartphone market.

Moreover, the update shows that Samsung is treating its AI ecosystem branded Galaxy AI — as a service layer rather than a hardware-locked differentiator. If this trend continues, users may see more cross-generation feature parity, reducing the need for yearly hardware upgrades simply to access the latest software enhancements.

One UI 8’s Road to Stable Release

Beta 2 represents another step closer to the public release of One UI 8. While Samsung hasn’t announced a specific launch date, historically, major One UI updates tend to exit beta testing in late Q4, often aligning with new flagship launches or seasonal updates.

If no major issues emerge in Beta 2, a third (and possibly final) beta could follow in the coming weeks before Samsung greenlights the stable rollout globally.

The One UI 8 Beta 2 update for the Galaxy S24 series delivers more than just bug fixes, it represents Samsung’s AI-first future, bringing cutting-edge features like Now Brief to millions of users ahead of schedule.

For now, the update is limited to testers in the UK, but its contents foreshadow a smarter, more personalized Galaxy experience that is likely to reach all eligible devices in the coming months.
