Samsung formally declared that One UI, which starting from smartphones, tablets, and wearable devices, is increasingly toward everything, and yes, smart TVs and home appliances too. So, your fridge uses the same software as your phone.
This was announced by the head of Samsung’s Visual Display Business, and Executive Vice President; Sally Hyesoon Jeong at Samsung’s 2024 Developer Conference. She casually announced that One UI was to become Samsung’s single user interface across all its consumer products, including mobile electronics and home appliances and television sets. It is a giant leap towards making its associated products appear to emanate from a large single happy Samsung family.
The Shift towards a Unity of Integrated Services
One UI is Samsung’s own skin which operates the Galaxy phones and tablets, that has been in the market recently and mainly offers a clean look. Now, expect that same simple UI to pour through and apply to everything Samsung, thus continuing the continuity and consistency of the UX across platforms.
Jeong also emphasized that this move is part of Samsung’s broader goal: as their artificial intelligent technology advances to build a coherent phenomenal world for their users. With the Internet of Things now being a reality we spend equal or even more time interacting with devices, why should the OS be different each time.
What’s Next? One UI 7!
Samsung also previewed One UI 7, the next version of the Korean tech titan’s custom user interface, which will come with the 2025 Galaxy S phones. Jeong avers that One UI 7 will deliver a “new and fresh look” to the user interface.
She explained that One UI 7 is designed with three main goals in mind: There are three dimensions that are mostly targeted by the communication, which include; simplicity, impact and emotional appeal. Samsung wants its design to elicit a response from its users, meaning you might just catch yourself feeling strangely satisfied how slim your homescreen looks.
A Neater, More Focused Design
The new update introduces changes to its home screen grid and a number of other features. Samsung is making it simpler for users to have a neat home screen on all Galaxy devices. Everything around the phones, tablets, or even Samsung fridges will look sleek and clean because of the One UI 7.
Jeong said this can be referred to as a focused design principle that seeks to eliminate any barriers to a seamless experience.
Beta Testing and the Wait for 2025
That means we will not dive into the full One UI 7 experience until early next year, but here is something to hold onto in the meantime – the developer beta. By the end of this year, there is to release a beta version which developers, and any enthusiastic tech geek, can try and see new features of the tool.
Wrapping It Up
This is due to Samsung’s recent move to release One UI to all of its devices as a breakthrough. It is one of the ways that must have demonstrated how seriously the company is willing to go in order to ensure that their users find a smooth interface that links the two products together. From your television, refrigerator, washing machine and any other smart device under the same control, it is all going to look, feel and function well in terms of control, simplicity as well as the emotional intelligence to respond to us through the soon to be released, One UI 7.
