09 May 2016, GURGAON: India’s major online e-commerce company, Snapdeal announced Saurabh Bansal will be taking a new role vice president and head of category. Prior to this, Bansal was Vice President – Merchandising at Snapdeal.
With a rich experience of 12 years in the field of merchandising, Bansal will now hold the responsibility of end-to-end category management and will be focusing on expansion of product and brand assortment on Snapdeal through strategic tie-ups.
Bansal joined Snapdeal in the year 2014 as Associate Vice President – Home & General Merchandise. Prior to this, he has experience in working with Jubilant Enpro as Senior Manager – Retail Strategy and New Business Development. Bansal also has experience in working with Metro Cash & Carry, Spencer’s and Timken.
As per ET reports and sources, co-founder of Snapdeal, Rohit Bansal said “I am confident that in this elevated role, he will play a role in Snapdeal’s vision of bringing 20 million daily transacting users to our platform by 2020.”
Bansal pursued mechanical engineering from Birla Institute of Technology and is a gold medallist. He further pursued MBA in marketing from S.P. Jain Institute of Management & Research, Mumbai and also Gold medallist in his area of specialization (Retail).
