According to rumors, Sega has three additional revivals planned: Sakura Wars, Panzer Dragoon, and Neon Genesis Evangelion. At The Game Awards 2023, Sega stunned fans with revivals of various legendary IPs. Sega has launched a new campaign to reimagine these classic franchises and introduce them to new audiences, which includes these revivals.
Sega showcased its TGA lineup of titles, which included re-releases of Jet Set Radio, Crazy Taxi, Shinobi, Golden Axe, and Streets of Rage. A purported internal meeting tape that included early footage for titles like Sonic Frontiers and the debut of a brand-new Jet Set Radio game was the source of prior leaks involving some of these revivals. Since the original TGA announcement, more games seem to have been given the green light.
Ten Sega games, including the five that included gameplay presented at The Game Awards in 2023, were approved for production between 2020 and 2021, according to Insider Gaming. Three of the five other Sega titles that were developed at that period have been confirmed by Insider Gaming; the site’s sources suggest that Panzer Dragoon, Neon Genesis Evangelion, and Sakura Wars will probably be returning.

Released first on the Sega Saturn in 1995, Panzer Dragoon is a beloved classic rail shooter game. The remake of Panzer Dragoon, which was published in 2020 across many platforms, is the most current entry and was met with varying reviews. Another hybrid game that appeared on the Sega Saturn is Sakura Wars, a tactical role-playing dating sim. This series’ 2019 soft relaunch, named Sakura Wars, is the most current installment. There have also been other tie-in games from the Neon Genesis Evangelion franchise; some of these were launched for the Sega Saturn in the late 1990s.
Sega’s trademarks for 12 additional games
Nonetheless, in December, Sega filed for trademarks for 12 additional games, which may give clues as to which titles are perhaps potentially under production. Several recently trademarked franchises may also be in the early stages of production, such as After Burner, Alex Kidd, Altered Beast, House of the Dead, Kid Chameleon, Outrun, and Super Monkey Ball. For the time being, nevertheless, this material should be treated with caution as they are only hearsay and conjecture. Waiting for further official information from Sega is advised for fans.
One of the most thrilling revelations of the previous year’s Game Awards came from Sega, who revealed that new games were being developed for a few iconic properties. There was a hint of “more” to come in the same release. Jet Set Radio, Crazy Taxi, Streets of Rage, Golden Axe, and Shinobi are among the original games that were made public during Sega’s resuscitation of its legacy series. Platforms and release dates are the only other facts that have been verified as of yet, but we’ll keep you updated if we learn anything.
