The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) has requested the Narcotic Control Bureau (NCB) to initiate a probe against the e-commerce firm Flipkart after multiple kilos of Heroin were seized appearing to be in Flipkart packaging. Multiple photos and videos have been making the rounds all over social media after the drug bust was successful on April the 29th and the Flipkart packages were opened to reveal kilograms of heroin in them. CAIT’s spokes people said that Flipkart has a potential of being involved in this major crime and this should not be treated lightly. Their actions in this must not be overlooked.
The drug bust took place in the area of Jamia Nagar, in the capital of India. Over 50 kgs of heroin was seized by the Narcotics Control Bureau. The total worth of all these drugs is estimated to be over Rs. 100 crores. As of now, four people linked to the crime have been put behind bars, out of which two of them are from Afghanistan. It has been confirmed that the drugs have entered the country from a drug cartel that is based in India and Afghanistan. It is likely that they enter the country through Pakistan, or they could even enter the country through boats in the dark of the night.
This is one of the largest drug busts in Delhi ever. 47 kgs of suspected drugs were also found hidden in the apartment and they have been sent to the lab for testing. The 50kgs of heroin were hidden in multiple backpacks and jute bags. Inside these bags, they packed inside boxes of e-commerce company Flipkart. Due to this, Flipkart has taken a lot of flak with many social media users saying that they should be investigated as well.
Investigation on the e-commerce firm has not begun yet. Neither has the Narcotics Control Bureau nor the government has come out to comment on Flipkart’s potential involvement. They have also not mentioned if they will conduct any investigations on the company, but based on social media’s reaction, it is likely that some sort of probe will be done on the company some time soon.
The team said that even though this bust has been a huge success, they will continue to work hard to reduce and stop the circulation of contraband in Delhi, Punjab, UP and Haryana. They also said that they will also be focusing to make sure that this doesn’t even enter into the country in the first place.
