Influencer and author Ashley St. Clair has sparked controversy by claiming she gave birth to Elon Musk’s 13th child, revealing that the tech mogul allegedly wanted to keep the baby’s existence hidden “for everyone’s safety.”
St. Clair Alleges Romance with Elon Musk Began with a Meme
The 26-year-old St. Clair took to X (formerly Twitter) on Friday to disclose her alleged relationship with Musk after facing pressure from tabloid reporters. In a subsequent interview with The New York Post, she shared details about their reported romance, which began when Musk “slid into her DMs” on X in May 2023.
“Musk was very funny. He was smart. He was very down to earth. It started with X interactions and he slid into my DM’s. I think it was a meme,” St. Clair told the publication. She admitted that initially, she “didn’t particularly have much interest in Elon” beyond his $44 billion acquisition of Twitter in 2022.
Their first meeting reportedly took place at Twitter’s headquarters, where St. Clair, then 24, arrived to interview Musk, 51. The encounter quickly evolved when Musk allegedly texted her after the interview, asking “Feel like going to Providence [Rhode Island] tonight?”
Luxury and Isolation, The Hidden Pregnancy
According to St. Clair, what followed was a complex situation where she received material support but faced significant isolation. Despite being provided with a luxury apartment and security detail, she claims she was required to maintain complete secrecy about her pregnancy, even keeping it hidden from Musk’s mother, Maye Musk, despite their social interactions.

“I was completely isolated during my pregnancy. Every part of my career and everything I used to do I couldn’t do anymore. I was told not to tell anybody,” St. Clair revealed. “I was told to keep it secret. I was being asked to keep it a secret forever.”
Musk Faces New Paternity Claim
While Musk has not directly addressed St. Clair’s claims to media inquiries, he has responded to a post on X suggesting that she had planned for years to bear his child. The 53-year-old entrepreneur, currently worth $394 billion according to Forbes, already has 12 children with three different women: five with ex-wife Justine Wilson, three with singer Grimes, and two with Neuralink executive Shivon Zilis.
The situation aligns with Musk’s public advocacy for increasing birth rates. He has repeatedly warned that a “collapsing birth rate is the biggest danger civilization faces” and has backed up his concerns with action, including a $10 million donation to fertility and population research. Recently, he praised Japan’s efforts to boost its birth rate and expressed worry about China’s declining population.
Musk has consistently pushed back against environmental arguments against having children, calling such claims “total nonsense.” He has pointed to concerning trends in U.S. fertility rates, noting that the “US birth rate has been below minimum sustainable levels for 50 years.”
As this story continues to develop, neither Musk’s representatives nor his companies have issued official statements regarding St. Clair’s claims. The allegations add another chapter to the ongoing public discourse about the tech billionaire’s personal life and his vocal stance on population growth.
